Hi there,
My name is Ella and I live bang in the centre of Aberystwyth (despite what the map on here say, it didnt seem to like the Aber postcode). I am an experienced dog trainer, handler and carer. I was a handler for Keep Dreaming Kennels Dog Pack, a team of racing huskies, for 6 months in rural Norway. For up to a week at a time I would be on my own with 8 huskies in the middle of the Norwegian countryside and no neighbours for 30 minute hike away. I would hike everyday with the dogs and so am happy to walk larger dogs on longer routes. In my life I have owned many pets . I have always had a strong affinity with animals as I was born into a house with a family cat and as soon as I was 4/5 I started to have pets of my own of many shapes and sizes. Over the years I have had cats, a dog, guinea pigs, rabbits and hamsters (having up to 9 non-human family members at a time) and have also taken care for many others in their owners absence over the years.
I am proud to say I am the best friend of a 12 year old border terrier and a big 14 year ol’ tabby cat. I have had both since they were little and gone through all the training that comes along with that. My dog of character, strong views and a sock game enthusiast. My cat is working on a plan to assassinate the wood pigeon in the garden in between sunbathing sessions and considers himself an enthusiast about anything edible. However due to them getting on in age now I felt it would be unfair of me to move them down south with me to University as it would make them both terribly unsettled and they are great companions to each other and both my parents. Owning an older canine means I have had to adapt to her senior ways of doing things so I’m happy to take that extra 30 minutes to allow for a good sniff and a slower trot around a well established route.
I will be returning to University in October for my third year of studying zoology. As a zoologist I am very passionate about good animal care and love anytime I can spend in the company of animals. As I will be leaving my two at home, I would love to help out a fellow pet owner and meet some characterful companions.
I love to be out in the elements and, being a Geordie, am very used to the rain, wind…you name it really. I enjoy walking and exploring Aberystwyth and am always looking for new interesting routes or just trotting up to the viewpoint in Penglais woods or along the beaches.
If you would like to have a meet and greet and see how me and your pet get along or discuss care I would be happy to arrange that. I understand that all pets have their unique needs and wants and am happy to accomodate that. I will look after exotic pets and birds in the owners home as I have had some experience working with them at Borth Animalarium
and as long as detailed intructions are given. I have also worked on many farms and am happy to deal with any farm animals kept as pets on the same conditions.
Due to my accommodation I am unable to look after anything other than smaller animals in my home (e.g. hamsters etc.).
Also so I can give my undivided attention to the animals within my care I insist on walking two dogs maximum at any given time. I have 2 hands so 2 dogs maximum seems logical.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Ella
