At Christmas I decided to come away from twenty-six years of outstanding infant teaching. One of the great joys over the last few years has been to share my school day with Lily the springer spaniel and Milo the cockapoo. The unconditional love, delight and fun they brought to us all was beyond price! Walking and playing with them before, during and after school was the best reward to be had for those of us over and under five feet in height.
Meanwhile for the past fifteen years Rosie, my beloved tabby cat has made coming home from holiday, a hard day at the chalkface and anything else life might throw at me - all melt away. Her affection and habits such as seeking sunny windowsills and preference for a blanket covered lap, are one of the main topics of conversation in our house. We call her our 'Cornish Princess' as she was an un-claimed kitten who we met on holiday down there.
Having been highly commended for my approach to children's behavioural needs, I have also developed quite a bit of knowledge and intuition for our feline friends. I am also loving having time now to join friends and neighbours with their gorgeous dogs on walks in the parks and nearby countryside.
It would be a true pleaseure to get to know and care for some new furry friends. If something were to go awry I would hope to be calm, responsible and purposeful in responding to the needs of anyone in my care, two or four legged!
Elspeth is just amazing!! She cares so much about animals, and she was utterly brilliant with my cat. She sent tons of pictures and videos to reassure me everything was ok. It’s so clear how much she enjoyed spending time with my cat. Add to that she is a lovely, friendly person. I would highly recommend her and will certainly use her again!
Elspeth was amazing, couldn’t have asked for more! Sent daily updates of our pets. Really good with animals. Spent ages with them whilst we were away. Fed and cleaned them out. Genuinely nice person, will definitely be booking again!
As a class teacher I have had a recent DBS check. I also contributed to the creation of risk assessments for our two lovely school dogs. They were allowed to be anywhere in the grounds and building as long as a member of staff was present. They had to be on a lead in the staff car park, during safety drills or when there were crowds such as during the Christmas Fair. We also had a designated bin for waste bags and a range of measures in place to keep them and the wider community safe and well.
Fifteen years as a cat owner has taught me to be vigilent with Rosie's health and well being. This includes annual check ups, monthly flea drops, six monthly worming, combing regulalry and most importantly serious adoration!
In fact most of the photographs on my phone are of our Rose, the dogs and cats of my friends and family and any we may meet when on holiday or out and about - need I say more!
