About Emma
Hello! My name is Emma and I am passionate about our furry friends. It's funny for me to say that nowadays because when I was a child, I was actually very afraid of most animals. It seems so strange to say now because through progressive exposure over the years, I built up confidence and now I am a true animal lover!
I started off my journey into pet-sitting with cats. I would pet-sit for a few different friends and neighbours and my main responsibility was to go to their place while they were away, feed and give water to the cat, clean out it's litter and play with it or cuddle, depending on each cat's preference. My neighbours' cat Gus actually became a regular gig for years as they were often gone for a month at a time in the summer.
As a teenager, I had several friends who had dogs and so I got used to being around them too and started pet-sitting over the holidays as well. Taking the dogs on walks, keeping them fed and watered, playing and hanging out with them. Me and my family also used to occasionally pet-sit for my grandad's dog. In this scenario, we actually used to take Jack the Shih Tzu home with us.
In 2023 I went volunteering on a a small family-owned farm in south america. There I got experience feeding horses and looking after their three dogs and two cats. This was an amazing experience for me for so many reasons but it also really gave me intense practice with different animals.
Last year, my family got a wire fox terrier and because I was still living with my parents then, I played an integral part in caring for and raising this dog. Joy became my whole world and I got super invested in training her and generally looking after her. We got her as a puppy of 9 weeks so I am also well acquainted with what the crazy puppy stage looks like. I have experience of taking her to dog parks too. My family often joke and call me the "dog whisperer" because I was always teaching her new skills.
Now I no longer live with my parents and I miss my little Joy-bug massively. I am a true believer of the phrase "a dog is man's best friend" but I also think all pets are often such a precious addition to their families. Additionally, I know and understand how much reponsibility it is to care for any pet and I appreciate that sometimes life gets in the way and you can't be with them every second. This is why, I am so motivated to be a pet sitter. I really want to help people out and give them the freedom to do what they need to do while feeling fully reassured and relaxed in the notion that their pet will be well looked after during their absence. I am unfortunately not in a position to take pets on in my own home right now but I am very enthusiastic and available for everything else, walks, pet-sitting in the owner's home, pet visits etc... Rather selfishly, this opportunity also gives me the chance to spend time with animals and that is something that brings me such happiness.
I don't have any proffessional qualifications in animal care but I am passionate, responsible and attentive. You can be certain that if you let me pet-sit for you, I will do everything in my power to ensure the best experience for you and your pet!
