Hello there, humans and fur babies (and not-so furry ones too!) Greetings from Cambridge. I am a master’s student in Animal Welfare and volunteer zookeeper/educator at a local wildlife park who is deeply passionate for animal care. I also own a lovely cornsake, Pippin. I love animal cuddles and will do my best to make sure your pet(s) have the best care I can offer them.
Please note that the price includes various costs that are not often included in Pawshake. For instance, Pawshake will often not allow multiple bookings (if you want me to visit your home, walk a dog plus an extra pet, stay with your darlings all day, etc.). This cost is included in the price.
My father is a local veterinarian in my hometown in the Midwest, USA, and I grew up working at the family vet clinic/animal hospital where I spent many hours assisting the care of pets both big and small, particularly cats and dogs but also the occassional rodent, bird, or reptiles. As far as dog ownership goes, I have trained and raised 3 Irish Wolfhounds (the tallest dog breed)--Elmer (205 lbs), Edith, and Fallon. They're amazing dogs and very gentle despite their MASSIVE size. I also have experience petsitting a Pomeranian, Pitbulls, Daschunds, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, a Border Collie, Siberian Husky, and my neighbor's lovely Greyhound "Shannon" (for many years). At most, I have helped care for 9 cats at once.
Six months before I started grad school, I worked at America's #1 Zoo where half of my role involved caring for cownose stingrays primarily, as well as southern stingrays, bamboo sharks, and bonnethead sharks at a touch-exhibit. I served on a small team monitoring and caring for our collection of 50 stingrays and sharks at this hands-on exhibit as a platform to engage visitors with conservation messages forged through an emotional animal connection. In sum, I absolutely adore animals and look forward to playing all sorts of games with your pets, cuddling them, giving them a safe space to rest, and any other kinds of care they might need whether medical, emotional, or physical. I genuinely believe animals have a capacity to heal people's spirits, and I hope in working for you and your animal family, I can help their spirits grow in turn.
Genuinely caring and kind to my little friend. I was very nervous about leaving her with someone new but she was awesome in looking after little Squeeks and Squeeks liked her too.
Deanna was wonderful! Patient with my rescue dog and in communication the whole time I was away. Highly recommend!
I am pursuing a Msc in Animal Welfare and Conservation and graduated with a Masters from Cambridge Uni in Education: Globalization & International Development, where I will complete my 3.5-year written project on Electronic Currencies (namely Bitcoin) by the end of June. My research is focused on how electronic currencies facilitate black markets for both human and animals.
I also have lots of first-responder experience including having maintained a Secret Security Clearance for the US State Dept, serving as a building caretaker/super for a year for 400 residents and many of their furry friends, a Resident Advisor (RA) for 40 freshmen undergrads when I was in university, as well as lifeguarding and swim instructing (3.5 years), and I have a recent CPR certification that expires in April 2019.
