Hi! I’m Rika from Japan 🐾 I’ve always been an animal lover, and dogs have a very special place in my heart. Back home in Japan, my family has a sweet Shih Tzu who has been part of our family for many years. He's such a gentle and funny little dog, and I miss him every single day. Since I can’t see his in person right now, I often ask my parents to send me photos and sometimes even video call his — she usually tilts his head when he hears my voice, which always makes me smile.

When I was living in Australia, I had several opportunities to work as a dog sitter and really enjoyed it. I mainly took care of small to medium-sized dogs, helping owners with walks, feeding, and spending quality time with their pets. It was such a rewarding experience, and I learned how to understand different dog personalities — from shy pups who need patience and gentle care to energetic ones who love long walks and playtime at the park.

I moved to Edinburgh just last month on a working holiday visa, and I’m currently working as an au pair and at a restaurant. Life here has been exciting and full of new experiences, but one thing that’s missing is spending time with dogs. I really miss the warmth, joy, and calm energy that dogs bring into everyday life. That’s why I decided to join this app — to reconnect with what I love and hopefully help other dog owners take care of their furry friends when they need a hand.
