About Sarah
Hi pet owner!
I hope you and your pet(s) are well.
I am looking for pet sitting and walking responsibilities as I love animals and the companionship that they bring. I especially love cats and dogs, finding their funny little unique personalities and ability to detect their owners emotions so special. Pet caring is the perfect job for me at the moment as I am a part time Clinical Psychology student, so can take on caring responsibilities any time of day or night to work flexibly around my studies and your schedule.
A bit about my experience; I have always had pets myself, be it fish, hamsters, rabbits, or cats. I have not owned a dog myself, however I have spent a lot of time caring for them. Therefore, I know the level of attention they require as their natural curiosities and powerful senses can lead them into all sorts of mischief!
As a teenager I made pocket money walking, checking on, feeding, and proving companionship to my neighbours elderly dogs. More recently, I lived with a Scottish family as their 'Doh pair' (an au pair but for dogs) while I was studying at the University of Edinburgh. During this time, I looked after Finn - a young cocker spaniel - for at least 5 days a week. I took him on 2 to 3 walks daily, ensured he was appropriately fed and watered, monitored him for any health issues and engaged in a lot of cuddles, stick throwing and playing in the garden! I would sometimes walk him with other dogs or supervise their playdates, broadening my experience. For example, one of these doggie friends had been born and raised during the pandemic, impacting her training and socialisation so she had some special behavioural needs to be mindful of. I found that Finn became one of my best friends in Scotland and helped me to get me out into the fresh air rain or shine. He provided excellent company when I studied at home or simply curled up on the sofa with a book. We went on many adventures together and developed quite the bond.
Beyond this direct experience with animals, I am well suited to be entrusted with pets as I am a very caring, empathetic, and responsible person. In between my Bachelors and Masters degrees (Philosophy at Durham University and Neuroscience at UCL) I have worked in education, health and social care. For example, at different stages I have worked as a nanny, teacher and support worker for individuals with brain damage, dementia or mental health difficulties.
I am available to care for your pet in daytime or night-time hours. I am very flexible on hours so can most likely accomodate your needs. I'm happy to do long walks which are over an hour, or go further afield to take your doggie on a day out if so desired! I can do a whole day sit in your house while you are away, stay overnight, stop by to check in, feed or play with your pet and make sure they have some company and activity.
If you are interested in any services, I am happy to chat or meet you and your pet before you commit as I know that it is a big decision who you entrust your pets to! They are such a treasure and bring energy, warmth, and joy to a household. I would be delighted to build a trusting relationship with them, helping them continue to be healthy, happy and safe!
Best wishes,
Sarah
