About Amy
Hello, my name is Amy, your local friendly neighbour pet sitter. Or as my daughter likes to call me, 'The Whisker Whisperer' 🐾🐾💖💕
My mum used to call me Dr Dolittle, as she used to catch me talking to my family pets & local wildlife (I still do). I have always loved animals, and enjoyed their companionship. I have two cats, Evie & Socks, Mother & Son, who we adopted over ten years ago from Feline Friends Charity, who are a very big part of our life 💖
I also hire pet sitters to care for my beloved cats, so I understand all that it entails and the trust that you need to build with someone to allow them to care for your precious pets, & the trust that you need to slowly build with pets 💖
I have cared for my family and friends pets for as many years as I can remember. We had many different pets in my family household when I was a child, and we often took in stay dogs, and cared for them and kept them as pets, or rehomed them. I have fond memories of caring for farm animals, and stray and ferrel cats and dogs in the UK and on my travels in Europe and parts of Asia.
I wanted to be a vet as a child, but after many babysitting jobs in my teenage years, I became a qualified Early Years Practitioner, with a Higher Education Diploma in Childhood Studies & Disability Studies, and a Degree in Education & Curriculum Studies.
I am a Founding Member for a Registered Charity for Disabled children and young people. One of my special interests, is the therapeutic benefits that spending time with animals can have on everyone, especially Disabled children and young people.
People say not to work with children or animals, but I love working with both. At times, I have worked with children and animals at the same time, such as caring for Therapy Dogs in schools, or taking care of the nursery school rabbit🐾🐾💖
In my spare time, I enjoy family trip with my husband and daughter to local cat cafes, farms, animal safari visits, and bird sanctuaries. We are members of the National Trust for Wildlife, and enjoy trips to nature reserves, woodlands and forests, observing local natural wildlife. I support with local wildlife conservation through my forest school activities.
For the past three years I have been a professional pet sitter in my local neighbour, and for the past year I have been expanding my pet sitting services across the Gateshead and Newcastle area.
I provide a reliable, trustworthy, respectful, professional pet sitting service, which includes:
🐾Caring for pets in/from their own home
🐾Feeding/Following daily dietary requirements
🐾Playing/Exercising/Walking (Dogs)/Socialising
🐾Brushing/Grooming
🐾 Litter cleaning/floor sweeping
🐾Caring for Medical Needs/Medication administration
🐾Cleaning up after cats (sickness/furballs)
I work together with pet owners to create a detailed personalised 'Pet Profile' Care Plan, for each pet that I care for, which are confidentially filed, regularly reviewed and updated when required.
The Care Plan will state exactly how you want me to care for your pet, and I will follow those instructions when caring for your pet. Clients also received a copy of their pet's profile upon request.
I communicate with clients with their preferred method, and provide regular updates for clients when caring for their pets, which include beautiful photographs of your pets for you to enjoy 🐾🐾 💖
I work mostly flexible hours over weekdays and weekends to meet your pets care requirements. I work flexibly throughout the year, over school holidays, bank holidays and Christmas holidays (please note additional seasonal charges apply).
I cover the Gateshead area and some of the Newcastle area. I care for multiple pets within their own home, currently at no additional cost.
For my dog walking service, I work with pet owners to identify local walking areas to where their dog lives, that their dog may be familiar with. I walk one large dog at a time, two medium sized dogs at a time, one medium sized dog and two small dogs at a time, or four small dogs at a time, all from the same home.
House care services that I can provide at no extra cost include:
✨Taking in parcels/Deliveries
✨ Placing letters/mail
✨Opening/closing blinds/curtains
✨Turning lights/leaving lighting off/on
✨Watering house plans
✨Taking bins in/out
I am fully insured, I have a full, clear DBS, a UK driving licence and a car; I currently cover the cost of my own travel expenses. I purchase and use my own PPE.
