Hi everyone! I'm Ellie, a 22-year-old English student living in Glasgow for the summer (April till end of August). As I'm done with uni, I have some free time to make some new furry buddies! Until I get a job/internship I'm basically available all the time so am super flexible. Since I'm away from home (in France), I really miss the company of animals so that's why I'm looking to take care of your pets. I love cats, dogs, and whatever other animal you can think of, and have plenty of experience.
Last summer I spent a month and a half pet sitting in The Netherlands where I used to study. I looked after over 15 cats and 3 dogs, which included staying at four different people's houses with their cats for a total of 3 and a half weeks. I've also done petsitting wherever uni takes me (I'm doing an Erasmus Mundus master which means I change university every semester), so last semester I cared for animals in Glasgow and then in Dublin!
Dog-wise, I've done plenty of dog walking and have experience with dogs that pull or aren't super people/dog friendly. I'm also very happy to just let your dog off the lead and go wander if that's what they like to do! I'm not phased by size as I've walked Shih Tzu's to Bernese Mountain Dogs (the bigger the better!!)! I also volunteered at an animal shelter for a couple of years so I've been around rescue dogs. I've also done dog sitting (ranging from an evening to 10 days), especially with dogs that have separation anxiety so know how to (try to!) keep them distracted/happy.
For cats, over the past 15 years, I've myself owned 6 of them. I'm really in tune with their needs and know when they want their own space (or attention!). I can administer oral medication to them as one of my previous cats needed to be given medication via a syringe. I've also taken care of many people's cats (indoors or outdoors/visits or long stays) so know exactly what to do.
I've outlined some of the technicalities of what I offer below:
• For home visits, I usually tend to come for at least 45 minutes to an hour. I never just come and feed the animals then leave but always sit with them for a while.
• For dog walks, they're usually half an hour to an hour depending on what your dog needs.
• For pet sitting, it can be just a one day thing or longer (multiple weeks). I'm happy to stay inside with them most of the time as that's what I'm there for. I can also of course do things like water your plants and bring in the mail!
Ellie was fantastic with my two senior dogs, one of whom is a behavioural special needs dog (fear reactivity). Ellie is calm and confident with the dogs; gentle and patient with their quirks. She stayed in my home with the doggos while I was away overseas on a fairly stressful trip. Knowing the boys were well cared for while I was away made things a lot easier. I highly recommend Ellie.
Ellie’s lovely! She’s punctual and immediately connected with my dog. Couldn’t recommend her more!
