My fundamental principles for looking after dogs and cats are patience, mutual respect and love. Pet sitting is about ensuring you feel comfortable leaving your beloved pet(s) in my care and that your pet(s) feels safe with me. Having been an ad hoc pet sitter for the past year, I’ve learnt a great deal about being adaptable to you and your pet’s needs. I maintain consistent communication via texts and pictures during my visits so you don’t have to worry (and you’ll have more photos to add to your pet’s photo albums).

Alongside my experience pet sitting, I’ve developed my knowledge and skills in animal care through opportunities such as having volunteered for 2 years on the cat team at Second Chance Animal Rescue. Here, I worked with cats with varying extents of behavioural difficulties varying from shyness to aggression. Often dubbed the ‘cat whisperer’, I take a quiet, compassionate and ‘paw’tient approach when first gaining the trust of more anxious animals.

Growing up with my own dogs alongside helping my mother with her dog walking business, HoundsAbout, I feel I have enough experience to treat your dog or cat with love and respect as if they were my own family member. Even as a child I was dog-obsessed and would take out all the library books on how to correctly look after a dog. I’ve continued to be dog-obsessed especially with my current family dog Merlin, a rescue cream labrador. I consistently say, and believe, that he is ‘the best boy in the universe’. He’s taught me lots about settling a dog into a new home after having a rough start to their lives. I love finding ways of keeping Merlin entertained, our favourite is hide and seek, as ensuring animals have enough stimulation whether that be through treat puzzles, walks, games, cuddles etc… is really important to me.

Your pet’s well-being and your peace of mind is my top priority which is why I’m highly attentive to each animal's needs and individuality.
