Hello!

We are Gethin and Stu, a Manchester-based couple who would love to meet and care for your pets!

A bit about us:

My name is Gethin and I am a 23 year old animal lover new to Manchester. As I am currently living in a rented apartment with a no-pet policy, I'm tragically pet-less and would love to spend some time with animals of all shapes and sizes! Due to allergies at home (my mother) I was never able to have a pet myself, and since I moved out I have always lived in rented homes that did not allow pets. This honestly breaks my heart, as I have always loved animals, and take every opportunity I can to walk the neighbours' dogs and pet-sit for my friends. Recently, I lived with my partner, his mother and their two cats for a few months. It was amazing living with the cats, and they brightened my days! Now that we have moved away to a different city, we are both really missing being around animals.

Pawshake is the perfect opportunity for us to be able to meet some lovely animals around Manchester and show them the love and affection we would show our own!

As mentioned, my partner Stu is pawshaking with me. He is 26 years old and has always had animals in his life, from his childhood dogs Sam and Ben to his amazing cats Claret and Blue. His entire family is very pet-oriented, and we have spent some quality time with all of the extended family's dogs. He has a knack for communicating with and understanding all kinds of animals, particularly cats, and would absolutely be late for appointments and meeting friends just to spend some time fussing a cat he meets in the street (understandable, of course).

We are both very friendly, caring people who will put your pets' needs above anything else. During a house visit, it will be difficult to get us to leave when the time comes for us to head off, as we will be too busy fussing your animals. We are responsible people and would never take any risks that could endanger your pets' well-being. We will make sure your pets get the attention and love they need, and are well fed, happy and clean.

We will treat your home with the utmost respect and care, much like your pets. As we are both working part-time on a shift-basis, chances are that one of us will be free even if the other is at work. We never work late nights or very early mornings, so on the off chance that we are both working on the same day we can pop in for a home visit before or after work very easily. This makes us the perfect team for pet-sitting, as we can guarantee that one of us can always be there for your pets.

We're happy to meet up and have a chat any time, talk about your and your pets' needs, and provide you with an opportunity to get to know us. We are based in Hulme but can travel anywhere that is accessible by bus or bike across Manchester. What we offer: We are available for dog-walking, house sitting and home visits (once or twice a day, depending on your pets' needs). During home visits, we are also happy to take care of other basic needs you might have such as watering plants and collecting mail.

We promise to take pictures of your pets and send them to you, so you will 100% get updates on them every time we see them. I love taking hundreds of photos of animals doing super mundane stuff from all angles, and I'm also a hobby photographer so I can guarantee top-quality photos!

I (Gethin) also have some experience caring for reptiles (snakes and lizards, specifically). I can offer home visits to feed and take care of your reptiles when you are away!

If you would prefer just one of us to do all of the visits or nights house sitting, that can absolutely be arranged. We understand that not everyone would like two different people in their home when they are away. Similarly, if your pet is easily spooked it might be less overwhelming for them to have just one stranger visiting them rather than two. Or if you have a pet who has issues with one specific gender, you might prefer one of us for that reason.

Covid-19 update:

Due to the current situation, we are limiting ourselves to areas we can reach by foot. We are based around Salford Quays! If you live further than an hour away from us we are unlikely to be able to look after your pets at this time. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
