About Julie

Hi, I'm Julie,

**NEW OFFER** - From September 2023 and subject to availability, I am offering a one-time free sitting to anyone adopting a cat or dog from a registered charity. Please message me to arrange.

I'm semi-retired from a long career in TV programme making which is now giving me the opportunity to do something I have always genuinely loved - spending more time with our furry friends.

I have two beautiful cats who are now 2 years old and who bring joy to our lives every day. They came from a fantastic cat charity in Bristol. Their mum was rescued after being abandoned when pregnant. Prior to these two we had two cats from the same charity who lived long and happy lives plus we adopted a stray. In 2001 I lost my beloved Labrador dog aged 12. I get my doggie walking fixes from my friends dogs, a Cockerpoo and Springer Spaniel, as well of course as my customers.

I started looking after pets through Pawshake last September and I am enjoying it so much. I have some fantastic customers (their owners aren't bad either!) Many are returning ones and I have received some lovely feedback - please take a look at my reviews.

Having pets myself and being a genuine animal lover, I know how difficult it is to leave them with someone whether that's for a day, overnight or when you go on holiday or away for work. It may be you work from home and need someone to walk your dog(s)| so you can focus. I like to take the worry and stress out of this by providing a genuine, caring, loving and fun visit with lots of cuddles and attention. I take time to find out all about your pet(s) and ask lots of questions so I can follow routines, feeding plans, walks etc so there is minimum disruption to your pet's needs. I love to take dogs for nice long walks (if age and good health allows) with lots of opportunities for play and sniffs...I can do this on or off the lead - off always being in a safe area.

As my tagline suggests, I take photos of your pets at each visit and text them to you so you can relax safe in the knowledge they are happy and being well cared for.

I can provide the following services:

Dog Walking - maximum 3 (friendly, well behaved) dogs - 1 hr (I only walk one client's dogs at a time).

Home Visits - dog sitting / walking / feeding - 1 x walk approx 1 hr. All day/evening keeping your pet company, feeding and walks is a full day/overnight charge

Home/visits - Cats / small furries etc - once or twice a day visits - feeding, litter tray changes, play, cuddles, minimum 30 minute visit

Overnight Stays - unfortunately, I cannot accommodate your pets in my home or do overnight stays.

Thank you for taking a look at my profile. If you have any questions at all, just ask.

I look forward to meeting your very special pet(s).

Julie took great care of our two cats while we were away for the weekend. She sent regular updates with photos and videos. We came home to two very happy cats!

I rescued and adopted a very thin and hungry young feral cat who started to come into my garden He was initially aggressive and would hiss and run off if you got too close, but after a lot of time and patience which included putting food and water out and gradually moving it closer to the house and moving slowly and closer to him when he came into the garden, I gradually gained his trust. On the day he walked into the house and allowed us to stroke him, he decided to move in with us. We then proceeded to formally adopt him (our huge efforts to find an owner failed) get him neutered etc and were devastated when we finally lost our beautiful loving boy after 17 years with us. As he got older, my large, occasionally wilful Labrador male dog could sometimes be aggressive with certain other large dog breeds. I took him to dog training classes to try to identify the issues and for me to recognise the triggers and learn skills on how best I could deal with them. This helped a lot and I developed a further interest in dog behaviour. In over 50 years I have rarely been without a dog or cats. I enjoy spending time with both equally and how they enhance all our lives. I love walking and the outdoors and particularly enjoy dog walking. A walk is so much nicer when you have an enthusiastic, tail wagger at your side ! I'm a member of the Avon Wildlife Trust and the Horses and Ponies Protection Association. I also make donations to animal charities including The Moggery, a Bristol based cat charity (where we have twice adopted cats from). Unfortunately, the demands of my full time job including working weekends didn't allow for in person volunteering but now I'm semi retired this is something I am going to pursue.
