I am a South African who is currently on a gap year, I have a genuine love for animals since I grew up surrounded by dogs and cats. Being far away from home I really miss my own pets and I would love nothing more than to spend my free time caring for and bonding with yours. I am attentive, reliable and have a lot of love to give to your pets.

I have hands-on experience caring for animals through both formal training, volunteering, and fostering.

In 2023, I trained my own dog at Zimsala K9 Training. Using the clicker training method I was able to train my dog with the help of positive reinforcement and repetition. I enjoyed this experience and continued informally training my dog at home as it was fun for me and stimulating for my dog. I am confident in my abilities to train a dog and teach them behaviours through clicker training.

I also completed volunteer service hours at our local animal shelter. There, I assisted with feeding, cleaning, walking, and socialising dogs awaiting adoption, as well as supporting general animal care routines. Not only did I enjoy this experience, I also gained valuable experience.

I also have experience with cats since I have had them as pets and got two of them as feral kittens that were in a very rough condition and in need of a safe home to give them a second chance at life. Though this experience was very time consuming and required a lot of patience when the kittens hid in a dark corners for days, it was so rewarding when they finally started trusting me and I was able to see their growth as they began to realize that they were now safe and healthy.
