About Christie

Hi :)

My name is Christie, I’m 29 years old and mum to one 9-year-old boy. I live at home with my son. In my spare time, I love to go to the gym, cycle and generally keep active. I love spending quality time with my boy, reading, I love being outdoors, I love making the most of beautiful Devon! I love music and going to festivals/gigs whenever I can. I absolutely adore dogs, I have a big family and we have always had family dogs (2 x Jack Russells called Stanley and Kenny and a German Shepard called Sam!)

I‘ve always been a caring person, I love all animals but dogs in particular. When I‘ve had hard times in the past, I’ve had my mum's dog stay with me and I just love that they sense you are a bit down or need comfort and all they want to love you and have cuddles. They make for great companions.

I’m motivated to be a pet sitter/dog walker because not only do I get so much from it but so do the dogs and their owners. I think spending time with dogs helps in many ways, it gets you outdoors being active, it’s great for your mental health because you are caring for the dog and it gives you purpose, dogs make great companions and being a pet sitter means I can help people and meet new people. It can be hard leaving pets when you go away etc but I want to help ease the worry by caring for all animals as if they’re my own and give pet owners peace of mind.

Before I started pet sitting, I worked in care for eight years working in local care homes around Torbay, Teignbridge and beyond. I would mainly help elderly clients with dementia/other mental health issues/special needs. I am still very passionate about care and people being treated how they should be, with love, compassion and empathy.

I thought I would give dog sitting a go as I don’t work in care as much anymore due to personal reasons and I love getting outside walking especially with a dog or two!

I don’t have any qualifications in animal care currently but I am planning on doing an online course for basic animal care, dog behaviour or something similar. And I’d also like to do an animal CPR course soon.

I have already got loyal customers who have said they will contact me for their pet sitting needs in the future and recommend me. I have been pet sitting for around 8 months now at my home. I have regular customers for dog walking and dog sitting.

My services are:

1 hour dog walk £8

Day visit at my home or yours if local as I don’t drive (includes a walk, feeding if required and spending time with your pet/pets) £12

Dog sitting at my home is £22 a night, £5 for additional dog

I’m very flexible so please don‘t hesitate to contact me about your requirements and I’ll be happy to help!

In regards to dog sitting, I usually ask the owners to bring the pet's bed, food/water bowls, toys, food and anything that helps them to settle in a new environment. I always stock up on doggy treats and poo bags. The dogs have pretty much the whole downstairs to themselves, plenty of room for their bed and the lounge door closes so dogs won’t be able to dart out into the street if I answer my front door. (Installing stair gates soon!)

I usually ask owners to write down some information about your dog/dogs, feeding times, amount of food, favourite toys, medical issues, walking routine (if they have one) and anything you think might help your dog settle in and help me to get to know them! 🙂

I have a lovely two-bedroom home, it has a good-sized, enclosed garden with a small patio area. The garden has a secure fence and locking gate to ensure the visiting dogs are completely safe.

There are plenty of places local to me that are great to take dogs for walks! I usually go to the local parks, explore the woods and beaches nearby. My house is located in a quiet cul de sac, away from any main roads.

I am kind, trustworthy, reliable and caring. I love helping others. Any dog that comes to stay with me will be so loved and well cared for!
