Lydia

My name is Lydia Dibben and I am currently working on a market garden in Velindre, near Hay-on-Wye. I have always loved animals and was bought my first pets at the age of 6; a pair of beautiful fancy rats. Since then I have owned (or my family have owned) a cat, a dog, mice, goldfish, and several more rats. Where I live now, there are 3 cats and 5 ducks!

I have a wide range of experience with all sorts of animals. I worked at a boarding and rescue kennel for over 4 years where I cared for hundreds of dogs each with unique personalities, including rescued dogs and those with behavioural problems. I also volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary for a year. They took in many species of mammals, amphibians and birds that were sick, injured or orphaned. Alongside the rescues they had a selection of permanent residents, including; ferrets, rabbits, rats, a chinchilla, a guinea pig, a canary, a deer, pigeons and owls. This increased my experience with animals massively, and showed that I was able to adapt to new challenges every day as we never knew what was coming through the door next! 

Since moving to Wales, I have helped with lambing on a sheep farm and have been learning to ride and care for horses. Although I would still consider myself a beginner when it comes to larger animals and livestock, I'm a quick learner and enjoy a challenge!

I stopped using this account, after a very successful couple of years, when other jobs and circumstances were taking up too much of my time. Now I am settled into my new life here in Powys, I am keen to continue providing boarding, walks and sitting for your wonderful pets.

I know that walks and other care needs to be catered to the individual, and I will strive to build a caring relationship with each and every pet that I meet. I understand that pets have a place in your hearts like nothing else, and their needs have to come first. I can give you peace of mind that your small animal, cat or dog are being cared for in the comfort of their own homes, or at my place which is a safe community of animal lovers with incredible walks right on the doorstep! I really do love spending time with any animals so you can work, travel or relax knowing that your pet(s) are being cared for by an experienced and loving individual.
