Hi! My name is Beth. I’m currently on half a year break from studies to become a volcanologist, which means I have the whole day to spend with our guests. I live in a house with my partner and we have a fully fenced back yard and the fence is 2m tall. My partner works a lot from home, so please let me know if any day guests tend to get noisy. We don’t have any pets of our own. At the time I don’t take overnight visits.
• My background: Growing up, my grandparents had a dog and we were inseparable for 10 good years. I’ve always loved animals, but dogs have a special place in my heart. When I was in my early teens, I took my neighbour’s dog out and played with him every day after school. About a year later, we got a dog, a lovely Tibetan Spaniel Dachs mix. She was full of energy and loved walks, keeping my parents and I moving. Unfortunately she passed away only four years old. A few years later, when I went to uni, a new opportunity for a dog opened and my parents got a Dachs. We have bonded so well even though I live away from home, and whenever my parents would travel somewhere I try to get home so I can be home with her.
• What can I offer at a home visit at your place? Playtime, cuddles, practice their tricks and a quick walk. Don’t be shy in asking for other activities or brushing.
• What can I offer on a walk? I can offer either a slow or brisk walk (no running) depending on the need of the dog, good practice at walking with a leash (if needed/wanted) but no walks without a leash and no running free in the park until I get to know the dog and am sure they will return when I call.
• What can I offer at a home visit at my place? When a dog comes to me, we explore Croxteth Park and Norris Green park on our walks. The rest of the time depends on the dog’s personality and preference. They get two half hour walks and however many short walks they want and need. A one hour walk is an option if your dog is used to longer walks. I am flexible, and I’m sure we can get an agreement that suits your dog perfectly. The dog will have the first floor to roam around, but they will not be allowed on the furniture unless invited up (just a habit I have from home). They will get invited up whenever I sit down though. We have a fenced garden we can play in, we can practice tricks or just cuddle. A favourite toy would be great for them to bring from home! Don’t be shy about asking for additional activities or brushing. I won’t cut claws though. I live with my partner who works from home a lot, so if your dog has a tendency to get loud, please let me know and let me know if a trip in to town would be good (I never leave dogs unattended at home nor outdoors).
PLEASE NOTE: I will currently only be able to visit homes within 3 km (1.8 miles) from Norris Green park due to lack of transport
