About Philippa

About Me

Caring for dogs isn’t just my full-time job—it’s my passion and purpose. I provide a loving, home-from-home environment where dogs are treated with the same care and respect I give my own. For a glimpse into what life looks like here, feel free to explore more on Instagram: @Riverside.Bark

I’ve been around dogs since childhood and was raised in a home where they were part of the family. Getting my own dog—my beautiful Stellan—was one of the happiest and most humbling experiences of my life. Training him showed me that dogs need more than love: they need patience, structure, consistency, and a deep understanding of who they are as individuals. Raising him was a joy (and a real workout!), and I couldn’t be prouder of the companion he’s become.

That experience inspired me to build a long-term, meaningful career in dog care. I’ve completed the Ofqual Level 3 Award in Home Boarding (Foundation) through The Dog Business School, and I’m certified in Canine First Aid via Dog First Aid Training. I also have a strong, ongoing interest in canine behaviour and welfare, and I’m committed to expanding my knowledge—especially to better support dogs with different needs, temperaments, and routines.

Our Home & Routine

Our home is set up with dogs in mind. We have a secure, enclosed garden and a spacious, open-plan downstairs area with gated sections to allow for separation when needed. Whether your dog prefers their own quiet corner or enjoys socialising, I can tailor the setup to suit their comfort.

When things are calm, dogs are welcome to relax in the living room with us. The open layout means there’s plenty of room to play and unwind, even indoors. Stellan is crate-trained (though he’s since upgraded himself to the bed!), so we’re happy to support crate use if your dog is familiar and comfortable with one.

We go out on two local walks daily, totalling between 1 to 2 hours depending on the group and weather. On dry days, we love heading to woodlands, fields, or enclosed dog spaces so everyone gets a good sniff and run.

Play, Enrichment & Adventure

One of life’s greatest joys is walking dogs—especially when we find safe, enclosed spaces where they can run freely and sniff to their heart’s content. I believe in the importance of allowing dogs to explore, express themselves, and enjoy their surroundings.

If the weather’s poor or your dog isn’t up for a big walk, we shift focus to indoor enrichment. Snuffle mats, tug games, interactive play, and trick practice (for dogs who know a few!) keep things fun, engaging, and stimulating.

I stock a selection of healthy, grain-free and natural treats, so even the most food-motivated dogs can enjoy rewards without compromising on nutrition or weight.

Tailored Care

Every dog is unique, and I’m more than happy to adapt our care around your dog’s specific needs. Whether they need to be walked alone, have a particular feeding schedule, or have preferences around other animals or people, just let me know.

Stellan is a very friendly, medium-sized dog who loves a playmate—but I completely understand that not every dog feels the same way. If your pup prefers peace and space throughout the day, I can create a calm, more independent setup for them. Their wellbeing and comfort always come first.

Whether it’s cuddles on the sofa, long countryside walks, or a quiet, structured routine, your dog will be welcomed like family—and cared for with love, knowledge, and attention to detail.
