HOME BOARDING FOR SMALL DOGS

🐾 We love all dogs but now only offer boarding for small friendly and sociable dogs who are fully vaccinated and neutered / spayed over 6 months old. 🐾

I live in the beautiful coastal village of Longniddry with my husband and our 2 little dogs.

(Our beautiful cat Poppy was laid to rest in August at the wonderful age of 17 1/2. We miss you dreadfully little one 💗)

As an experienced dog sitter and genuine dog lover with 2 wonderful fur babies of my own, I understand how stressful and overwhelming it can feel to be apart from your pooch.
Let me ease concerns by offering your VIP (Very Important Pooch) a loving home from home, full of fun, comfort and adventure.

Your VIP will be lovingly welcomed into our home and family. They can enjoy a clean, smoke free, very dog friendly detached house with large fully fenced and gated private gardens. 

Living in the countryside we spend a lot of time having outdoor adventures and exploring the beautiful beaches, woodlands, fields and wild meadows which are less than a 10 minute walk from our home.
What could be better after a lovely long walk than snuggling on the sofa with fleece blankets or stretching your paws out by the log fire for a well earned snooze.

NEW CLIENTS

Before welcoming new dogs into our pack we hold a meet and greet at our home with you and your pooch. Your little one will then be invited to come for a trial day before booking their stay.

🐾 Check in is between 8am - 12noon. 

Sunday

🐾 Check in is between 9.30am - 12noon.

🐾 Check out is before or at the same time as check in. 

Daycare is available to book if a later check out is required. 

Daycare finishes at 4.30pm. 

🐶 Why do you have check in / check out times?

🐾 Dogs feel relaxed and happy when they have a regular routine, to enable me to provide this for them I have designated check in / out times.

Puppies and Tweenies aged 12 weeks - 2 years

Boarding - £42 per night 

YOUNG ADULTS TO GOLDEN YEARS

Dogs aged 2+ years 

Boarding - £28 per night 

🐶 Why do you change more for puppies and young dogs?

🐾 Puppies and tweenies are charged at a higher rate as they require extra care, attention and training during their stay.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & SERVICES

🐶 Do you have a full time job?

🐾 Yes! Home boarding is my full time job which is why I'm able to dedicate 100% of my time into providing the dogs in my care with a fun packed holiday. 

🐶 Are you insured? 

🐾 Absolutely! I'm insured with petplan sanctuary also fully licensed and vetted by East Lothian Council 

🐶 Do you have boarding requirements? 

🐾 We welcome friendly well socialised dogs who are up to date with their:

🐾 Annual vaccinations 

🐾 Monthly / 3 monthly flea, worming & tick treatments

🐾 Fully toilet trained - no longer using puppy pads (over the age of 6 months.)

🐾 Neutered / spayed (over the age of 6 months.)

🐶 How many dogs do you board at once?

🐾 I'm licensed to board up to 3 guest dogs but tend to board 2 guest dogs at a time. (Except for very busy periods)

🐶 Will you send me updates on how my dog is doing? 

🐾 Absolutely! As a dog parent myself I'm aware how stressful it can be when not with our fur babies.
To ease your mind, I’ll send daily pupdates with photos & videos of your pooches adventures, leaving you free to relax and enjoy your holiday. 

🐶 Do you provide food and treats for my dog?

🐾 To keep your dogs tummy in tiptop condition, I ask you to provide your dog's usual food and treats for the duration of their stay. 

🐶 My dog is on medication, is that an issue?

🐾 No issue at all. I can administer oral medication and external treatments. I only ask that clear veterinarian instructions are provided. 

🐶 My dog loves walks!

🐾 Me too! We have 2 walks per day (2-3 hour walk in the morning exploring woodlands, beaches, fields / wild meadows and 1 hour park walk in the evening) 

🐶 Oh no, my dog can't walk that far, they're old!

🐾 I completely understand, I have a 6 year old and a 10 year old who have very different energy levels. All walks can be tailored depending on individual dogs needs. Puppies and seniors don't need to be excluded from longer walks as I have an all-terrain dog buggy they are welcome to use when they need a rest. 

🐶 My dog loves cuddles!

🐾 So do we! Dogs are very welcome, and encouraged to join us on the sofa for lots of snuggles and tummy rubs! 

🐶 Where will my dog sleep?

🐾 We always try to keep your dogs sleeping situation the same as if they were in their own home. Dogs are welcome to sleep in the kitchen, living room, bedroom or even the hall if it's what they are used to. If your dog is used to sleeping in a crate we have 3 different sizes they are welcome to use.

🐶 My dog sleeps on my bed. 

🐾 This is the only exception, we don't allow dogs, not even our own, to sleep on our bed as no one has a good nights sleep. Your dog is very welcome to sleep in our bedroom in a dog bed or crate though. 

🐶 Do you board any size of dog?

🐾 I offer home boarding for small breed dogs (10kgs or less) 

🐶 Don't you like big dogs?

🐾 We LOVE big dogs! My husband and I both grew up with labradors but we have a lot of smaller guests who feel more comfortable sharing a home with dogs their own size so decided to now only board small breeds. 

🐶 Why don't you take working breeds?

🐾 We use to board working breeds but found no matter how many hours of walking, play and enrichment they were given, they just didn't settle.

🐶 My dog is reactive, can they stay with you?

🐾 No, for the wellbeing of all in my care I don't offer boarding for reactive dogs who show aggression towards dogs or people (growling, snapping, lunging, nipping, biting etc) Dogs staying with us must enjoy interacting and the company of other dogs as they will be living with my two dogs and other guest dogs during their holiday. 

🐶 My dog suffers from separation anxiety, is this something you cater for?

🐾 Sadly not anymore, it's been my experience that dogs with separation anxiety find it extremely difficult to settle which causes stress and uneasiness within the whole pack. For this reason, regrettably I no longer offer boarding for dogs with separation anxiety. 

🐶 What does a typical day look like for my dog during their holiday?

🐾 MORNING:

Comfort breaks and breakfast 

9am: 2/3 hour Woodland / beach Walk – lots of lovely sights, sounds and sniffs!

🐾 AFTERNOON:

Lunchtime snacks before snuggling on the sofa for well earned snoozes

Garden fun - lots of time exploring, playing with balls and toys, helping in the vegetable garden or simply relaxing on a sun lounger or seeking shade in the doggie tent. 

5-6pm: Dinner and pupdates 

🐾 EVENING:

Post dinner naps or playtime - we have a basket full of toys to play with! 

7pm: Evening walk to the park

9pm: Beddy byes - time to rest those paws ready for tomorrows adventures! 

THE IMPORTANT BIT

To provide the best possible care for your VIP it is very important to be open and honest about any quirks or behavioural problems your dog may have (including toileting, (growling, lunging, biting, nipping / snapping at dogs or people), excessive barking, separation anxiety, nervousness or any other issues being around other dogs or people) prior to arranging a meet & greet. 

Your dog will be staying in our home with our 2 dogs and other guest dogs so MUST enjoy the company of other dogs. 

I AM UNABLE TO OFFER BOARDING FOR

• Working breed and working breed mixes, bulldog breeds and bulldog breed mixes.

• Dogs with separation anxiety and excessive barkers.

• Dogs who pull hard on the lead.

• Unneutered / unspayed dogs over the age of 6 months.

• Reactive dogs who show aggression towards dogs or people (growling, snapping, lunging, nipping, biting)
