About Jessica
I have always had a deep passion for animals and their well-being, which has driven me to dedicate much of my life to caring for a wide variety of species. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of owning and caring for dogs of all sizes—from small, energetic terriers to large, gentle giants like Akitas. This hands-on experience has given me a solid understanding of canine behavior, exercise needs, dietary requirements, and the unique personalities that each dog brings. I’ve developed the ability to read body language, understand individual needs, and adapt my approach accordingly to ensure the animals I care for feel safe, secure, and happy.
In addition to dogs, I have experience caring for a variety of other animals, including reptiles. I understand that reptiles require specialized environments, attention to detail, and consistent routines to stay healthy. From maintaining proper lighting and temperature gradients to handling and feeding, I’m confident and comfortable with their care. I appreciate the unique characteristics of reptiles and am meticulous when it comes to their habitat cleanliness, humidity control, and dietary requirements. I also recognize the importance of monitoring their behavior for any signs of stress or illness, which can be subtle in these fascinating creatures.
My interest in animals led me to formally study animal care and management, where I deepened my knowledge of animal health, nutrition, first aid, behavior, and ethical handling practices. This education has given me a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of animal care, including how to handle emergencies, recognize health concerns, and provide the best possible environment for different species. It also reinforced the importance of compassion, responsibility, and patience in any animal care role.
What truly drives me is the enjoyment I get from spending time with animals. I find great satisfaction in building trust with them, whether it’s earning the affection of a shy cat, walking a lively pack of dogs, or calmly interacting with a nervous reptile. Each animal has its own story, and I love getting to know their quirks and preferences. There’s something deeply rewarding about seeing an animal thrive under your care, knowing you’ve contributed to their happiness and well-being.
I also understand how important it is for pet owners to have someone trustworthy and responsible to look after their beloved family members. Pets are more than just animals—they’re part of the family, and they deserve to be treated with love, respect, and diligence. When someone leaves their pet in my care, I treat that responsibility with the utmost seriousness, providing not only routine care but also the emotional support animals often need in the absence of their owners.
Whether it’s dogs, reptiles, or any other species, I bring a calm, confident, and caring presence to every situation. I am reliable, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to giving every animal the high standard of care they deserve.
Although animals are a large part of my life, I also have a job where I am a service manager within the social care, community living services where I manage and support my staff teams to provide the utmost support, care to individuals with learning disabilities, mental health and autism. I have worked within the social care sector for 11 years.
