My pets and my home

I am the proud pet mum of 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs. 

I live in Somerset with my husband. 

Motivation

I have always been lucky enough to have pet- mad parents, so when we go away I know my pets are cared for, are in safe hands and will be happy. I don't know how pet owners who don't have that option manage which is what led me to pet sitting. 

I am a registered nurse and work from home. So as long as there is an Internet connection, I am able to earn my living. This allows me to be at home (or your home) all day and provide that consistency. It also allows me to keep my costs low, as pet boarding is something I do because I enjoy it. 

I always ask for the following information:

- diet (how often, when and what)

- any medications 

- any health issues

- name of your vet or where you would like me to take your pet if they become unwell

- emergency numbers

- what your dog likes; Toy, beds, places to walk them so that I can ensure their surroundings stay as familiar as possible.

When housesitting, I will then ask for further information related to maintaining the safety of your home (any alarm systems, gas and electric meters etc., should something unexpected happen) any plants you'd like me to water or birds you'd like me to feed ?

I love playing games with young dogs who have tons of energy to work through. A long walk is always good, but a bit of mental stimulation is always needed and works a treat for settling a young pup down. 

For dogs who like a more sedentary life, a small walk on the beach or even around the local houses, then going home for cuddles, a treat and a good ear scratch.

When in other people's homes I am incredibly respectful of your privacy and your property. I take my cues from you as to which rooms your pet(s) are most comfortable, where you prefer them to rest, sleep, walk and eat so as to maintain that consistency for them. I will not enter any area of your home you do not wish me to. 

I have two dogs who are on specialist diets (for different reasons) so I understand the importance of sticking to the diet you have in place for your pet. I am also happy to support daily grooming for long hair dogs, and regular floor sweeps for dogs that malt. My only goal is to reassure your pet and give then care and affection until you return.
