Hi there,
I've always loved animals, although haven't committed to deciding what I want for myself yet, which is why I would like to offer my services to you. I moved around a lot growing up, so have been limited to only own small animals including lizards, fish and hamsters, but always find I surround myself with animals - big, medium and small, scaly, cute, cuddly, furry, feathered and not (naked cats!).
I have a relevant background with a Biology degree, concentrating on animal behavior and animal ethics. I have been trained to care for dogs, cats and small animals at a RSPCA centre, have completed work experience at small animal and equine veterinary clinics as well as observing what training future guide dogs go through for the blind. My past experience has allowed me to interact and care for animals of all different ages; young and old (& deaf), various personalities (no one personality is the same!); from hyper to very shy and nervous and at various stages of health; completely healthy on no medication, to animals needing oral as well as medication via injections and even on special diets! I have completed a dog first aid & CPR course (which can apply to other animals like cats as well), have started a puppy training course (which can apply to dogs as well) and have also participated with a client's dog in dog agility classes. There is nothing I can't help out with; I've looked after chicks (who need constant checking), chickens, vegetable patches and even taken care of an owners pool (cleaning, backwashing and chemical levels) and jacuzzi (chemical levels). I am frequently asked by family and friends to pet-sit for them and would like to extend my experience with other animals and characters.
I am available for house visits/sitting (including working from home if you prefer), dog walking, dog/cat care as well as small animal care in the Guildford/Woking and surrounding areas of Surrey. I can provide morning, midday and early evening services of walking, animal checkins and care for 30 mins - 1 hr (including travel time, around core working hours 0830-1200 and 1400-1730) and I have a car which allows me to pick up/drop off, if required. The house sitting rate is for 24hr care, so let me know if you require shorter hours, for example, working from home during the day or just a sleepover.

Lauren did a great job looking after our dog and four cats for a long weekend, and dog walking twice. All the animals took quickly to her. Our dog is a nervous, recent rescue, but Lauren was very patient and calm with him and on one of his walks before the stay she dealt very well with his initial refusal to leave us behind at home, giving him plenty of positive encouragement. While we were away she would go out of her way to spend her time in the kitchen (his safe place) to ensure he was comforted, but also understood not to over fuss him and give him space, and she was even listening to his calming classical music still when we returned home.
Lauren was happy to spend lots of time learning about our pack and quickly picked up on their characters and needs. She paid great attention to detail and was happy to implement all the quirky habits and particulars that our pets (or we!) are used to. With five pets, there was lots to focus on, but Lauren was keen to learn and implement the tiniest detail.
She was willing also to go above and beyond, for example, our cats are kept in at night and we’d said she could just let the trouble maker cat (who sometimes doesn’t want to come in) make her own way in the flap later if she was being stubborn, but Lauren persevered with treats and great patience to make sure they were all in, safe and sound, before going to bed.
We loved the regular updates with photos, and whilst we didn’t doubt Lauren would do well, those helped us to be assured all was okay back at home. With the pets you adore, this really helps to put your mind at ease. Overall, we were delighted with Lauren’s care and will definitely ask her back.
Both Lauren and her father David came to introduce themselves and couldn’t have put me more at ease - their natural affinity to animals was abundantly clear. Our puppy Ted spent the entire time laying flat on his back across their laps demanding tummy rubs so I knew that he would be overjoyed to go on lots of walkies with them! Their experience was very evident and I know Ted couldn’t be in better hands. It will be great to use Lauren more in the future and I wouldn’t hesitate in calling upon her when we need a pet sitter - Teddy would be in heaven! Rebecca
