My experience caring for pets

I've been regularly pet sitting both cats and dogs since 2020 and currently care for 7 pets on a regular basis when their owners are away.

I grew up with cats at home, taking an active role in their care from a young age. This is where my love of cats came from and gave me an instinctive understanding of their behaviour.

I have experience as a fosterer for a cat rescue, where I received training in cat welfare and behaviour. This has given me a thorough understanding of cats' needs and their care.

I've cared for cats of all different ages (from 8-week old kittens to senior cats) and with differing levels of comfort around people.

I work full time, but with semi-flexible hours I'm able to accommodate early morning and late afternoon visits as well as overnight stays.

I feel most happy and confident when i'm around cats and love getting to know different cats and their personalities. I'd love to meet yours!

30-minute drop-in visits

I'm available for up to two drop-in visits per day - from around 07:00-08:00 and 18:00-20:00.

When I arrive, I’ll greet your cat with a gentle and friendly approach, helping them feel comfortable with me. If your cat is social enough, we’ll start with some fun playtime and gentle petting/brushing to make sure they’re happy and feeling loved.

After we've had some fun, I’ll prepare their meal just the way you’ve instructed and make sure their water bowl is fresh and clean. As well as keeping bowls and feeding areas clean, I’ll also take care of the litter tray, keeping it tidy and pleasant for your cat. I can also give oral medication (in food) if needed, following your instructions (no injections though).

Overnight Stays

For those times when you need someone at home for longer, I also offer overnight stays. Here’s how it works: I’ll stay in the property overnight and be around early mornings to make sure your cat is fed, cared for and ready for the day. During weekdays, I’ll be out for work from around 8:00am to 5:30pm, but I’ll be back to spend the entire evening with your cat.

At weekends I can usually spend more time at your home, although I might need to step out for any existing arrangements, errands, or exercise.

During overnight stays, I’ll provide the same great care as during drop-in visits, including feeding, litter box maintenance, playtime, and more. I'll be sure to tidy up after myself so you come back to a tidy home.

Additional services

In addition to taking care of your cat, I’m happy to put out bins for collection days, collate mail, and water plants. I’ll make sure to send you at least one photo or video update every day, so you can see how your cat is doing. If there are any changes or concerns, I’ll inform you right away. 

Security

To keep your home secure I can:

• Ensure any used doors/windows are locked before leaving and upon returning.
• Use indoor lights in the evening to give the appearance that someone is home.
• Follow any specific security instructions you provide, such as setting alarms or using security systems.
• Be vigilant about unusual activity around the home and report any concerns to you immediately.
