Hi! My name is Pauline, I am 20. I am a final year student at the University of Birmingham (doing a degree in Law and Criminology).
I guess the main questions are
Who am I?
Why would you trust me to take care of your beloved pets?
Well as I said I am a French student here. I arrived in the UK about 3 years ago, and I had to leave my cat and my dog with my parents at home. I have been surrounded by cats and dogs all my life. In 18 years I've had 4 cats and 1 dog
(at the moment we still have 1 cat
Lucky and 1 dog Leïa), all adopted from various shelters. I guess we can say that animals are "my thing", I used to do horse riding, I have been volunteering in a shelter for a couple years, I even considered doing volunteering in a zoo for a while but I was legally too young.
Now my motivation. I do miss my pets a lot and I never really get the chance to pet cats and dogs at university. Also I am a student, so if I can pay my rent while doing something I really enjoy doing.... In short, Pet-sitting sounds like a win-win situation to me.
Now why choose me. I am trustworthy, responsible and I know what I'm doing. I mean, never take anything for granted, but when I was volunteering in a shelter (Amis des Bêtes, in Aix-les-Bains, FRANCE)
I was helping the employees a lot and therefore doing what they were doing (within the limit of my capacity and of the law given that I was 14 back then), I know how to take care of pets' living space given that
I was working a lot in the cat "department" and
sometimes in the dogs' boxes. But my main activity was dog walking. 4 hours every Saturday afternoon I and a couple other volunteers could walk the 20ish dogs sheltered, take them to the local park, play with them and really just give them the love they deserve.
Pauline was a life saver, being able to help us out at short notice when our other pet sitter fell through. The animals were all happy when we returned and we would love to have Pauline look after them again!
Pauline did a great job taking care of our cat while we were away. We could highly recommend her!
When I was volunteering at a pet shetler (for about 2years) I was walking the dogs, taking care of the cats, feeding dogs and cats, cleaning their spaces, etc.
I have been walking and sometimes dogsitting two 'reactive' sheperds for over a year. The owner would let me come to their training and therapy sessions, I am therfore used to dogs with behavioural issues.
