I'm Beccy, 37 years old, I’m an experienced pet and house sitter, and I am very passionate about the comfort and welfare of animals in my care.
I am currently doing a part-time PhD (Medical Science) and the other half of my life is filled with volunteering at local dog training centres, training and competing with my own dog in a variety of dog sport disciplines, and looking after other people’s dogs - I really love dogs (and horses, cats and most other small furry things)! I also attend many animal behaviour and training seminars to keep my knowledge in line with current research - it’s a fascinating field of science and one that ultimately benefits our animals.
I have a lot of experience with all sorts of dogs; from very large to very small, overly friendly to shy/anxious types, puppies, older dogs, those prone to resource guarding or fear reactivity, as well as playful or clumsy goofballs! I do not use any aversive methods in my handling and care; only kind, positive, friendly, force-free interactions.
I also have lots of experience with cats and love to spend time enriching their lives with things to keep them happy while their owners are away.
My goal is for each animal to be as happy in it's surrounding as possible; remaining in their own home and keeping to the normal routine as closely as possible while their owners are away is the best method to achieve this. I am very good at sticking to specific instructions and would actively encourage detailed lists of your pet‘s preferences and routines (just as I would give for my own), they all have their own little peculiar ways.
I am very keen on including enrichment activities to any time I spend with an animal and can tailor these to the animals needs and capabilities.
I have an HND in Animal Science and have worked with and cared for a variety of animals. It is always my absolute pleasure to meet and care for any animal that needs a bit of extra love while their owners are away.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions :)
Beccy was a lifesaver for us! We needed someone to look after our two cats while we were away for a long weekend. The trip came up suddenly and our usual cat-sitter friend was away, but thankfully Beccy was able to respond and visit quickly so that we were all sorted before leaving. Beccy sent us pictures which showed that even our nervous boy quickly made friends with her. Would happily ask Beccy to look after them in future.
Beccy was a thoughtful and excellent sitter for our two cats (one of whom is extremely nervous of new people). She gave us regular updates after feedings, and put us at our ease. Will be rebooking!
