About Rachel
We take the time to understand your dog’s individual needs, routine and personality so we can create a true “home from home” experience.
We are a family of four with two 10-year-old children and our friendly 1-year-old Labrador. My husband David and I have been caring for dogs for friends and family for over six years, and we’re now delighted to open our home to your much-loved pets.
Our semi-detached five-bedroom house has a secure, fully fenced medium-sized garden, and dogs are welcome to enjoy the whole home if that’s what they’re used to. We live close to several wonderful walking spots, including Woodford, Ashenbury and Dinton Pastures, which we visit regularly.
Settling in & introductions
We know that arriving somewhere new can be a big experience for a dog, so we introduce guest dogs carefully and calmly. Initial introductions with our Labrador are done in a neutral, relaxed way—usually on a walk—so both dogs can get to know each other naturally. We give new arrivals time and space to settle, following their usual routines as closely as possible to help them feel comfortable and secure.
Managing different temperaments
Every dog is different, and we adapt our approach accordingly. Whether your dog is energetic and playful or prefers a quieter environment, we make sure they feel safe and supported. We can separate spaces if needed and always monitor interactions to ensure all dogs are happy and relaxed.
Daily routine & supervision
Our day typically includes a good morning walk (often at Ashenbury or Dinton, away from busier areas), plenty of enrichment and playtime at home, and a second walk in the afternoon around 4pm. Dinner is served after the afternoon walk, followed by a calm, cosy evening—cuddles are always welcome!
Dogs are supervised throughout the day, and there is an adult at home at all times.
Safety & care
Your dog’s safety is our top priority. Our garden is fully enclosed and secure, and outdoor time is always supervised. We take care to follow your dog’s usual feeding, exercise and care routines.
Health & emergencies
In the unlikely event of illness or emergency, we will contact you immediately and, if needed, take your dog to a local vet promptly. We are happy to follow any specific instructions you provide and ensure your dog receives the best possible care at all times.
As we have children and our own dog, we kindly ask that all guest dogs are comfortable around older children and other dogs before booking with us.
We look forward to welcoming your dog into our family and giving them a safe, happy and loving stay.
Please note that puppies (under 1 year) may incur an additional fee due to extra care and supervision.
