I have been a dog mum to my lovely elderly girl, Lola since 2019. When our usual home boarding dog care shut down in 2021 we were stuck for an alternative to kennels. Our girl is a rescue so putting her into kennels was a last option for us. That's when we thought "hey Lola misses her dog friends and we work from home all the time so why don't we off home boarding?"
We have been doing home boarding since 2022 originally through another provider. We have had mutiple 5 star reviews and repeat boarding customers. We are hoping we can continue to help the community by offering home boarding through Pawshake as there are very limited options on the island. Dogs have free roam of the house and can sleep in a crate, in the kitchen on a bed, on the sofa or upstairs with us (but not on the bed!)
We can give tablets to dogs (or try to depending on how good they are at sniffing them out!). We take the dogs for a short 20 minute walk at lunchtime and a longer 45 minute - an hour long walk in the evening. We also have a field nearby for fetch if their recall is good! We are home all day as we work from home, only popping out for the occasional 30 minutes when we need to pop to the shop - we can make it so that one of us stays in to watch the dogs if required.
We will only take vaccinated, neutered and medium sized dogs and below into our home. We also will only take one dog at a time. We ask that dogs are house trained (although we know accidents in a new environment can happen!) We also ask that we can meet the dog before we carry out any services to ensure it's a good match for us, for them and for you.
Our home is a 3 bedroom semi detached house with a fenced (6ft) patio. The gate is locked and we have two doors either side of a porch for entering and exiting the house. My desk is in the kitchen so I can see when dogs are asking to go outside, in the summer I leave the backdoor open most days so they can go in and out as they please.
We are a couple and we occasionally have our grown up (10+) children every other weekend. They also love dogs.
