Hi, my name is Deborah, and I have lived in the Stamford area
for over 20 years. I am an experienced cat-owner and have, in the past, rescued
several stray cats and taken them into my home and my heart! I am also experienced
at dog-sitting and dog-walking, and I regularly sit with and walk my neighbours’
and friends’ cats and dogs.
Cat-sitting is my area of specialist expertise, and I am experienced at feeding cats and keeping them company whilst their owners are away, so that they can remain in the comfort of their own home. However, I also have lots of doggie friends too, so I am equally happy to feed and walk a small-to-medium sized dog.
In my day-job, I am a business owner, coach and therapist,
and I am used to acting with integrity, compassion, empathy and confidentiality
and I bring the same qualities to my work as a pet-sitter.
In a previous life I worked in an extremely responsible role in local government
for nearly 20 years, and have done training health and safety and safeguarding,
and am used to being responsible for the wellbeing of vulnerable adults,
children, and animals!
I specialise in supporting people with chronic illness and pain to be able to care for their pets. Pets can be a huge support when we live with pain and illness, but cruelly, having pain and illness can also prevent us from being able to have a pet or care for it. So, if you sometimes struggle to walk your pet due to illness or pain, or if you need someone to look after your pet while you are at hospital or medical appointments, then I would be delighted to help! I live with a chronic illness myself, and so I can only offer short walks, but I know that some support with your pet can be a godsend on days when you are struggling.
I am an extremely compassionate, disciplined and
professional person who is committed to providing a high level of service in
whatever I do, as well as giving a lot of fun and attention to the animals I meet!
I am a natural ‘animal person’, and animals seem to take to me
and become comfortable with me very quickly, and, in return, I love meeting
them too, but always on their terms.
I know that each pet is unique, with their own special
personality, their own likes and dislikes, and their own particular needs, and I always seek to understand each animal in my care and do whatever I can to give them what they need and make them feel safe.
I know that doing the responsible thing and caring for
an animal is not always just about cuddles and fun. I nursed my own pets
through several illnesses and am used to giving medications and other treatments
as necessary, and am happy to do whatever is needed, with instruction, to make sure your
pet is comfortable, happy and safe. Their wellbeing is my number one
priority.
I am happy to offer day visits to your pets in your home, to
feed them and keep them company while you are out, and I can also take a dog on
a short walk once or twice a day, if needed.
