About Emma
Hi!
My name is Emma. I had a dog (Labradoodle mix) for 14 years and I miss her very much. I now have a rescue cat who is very non confrontational and keeps well away from any visiting dogs. I have a large property so am able to keep them separate very easily whilst still maintaining lots of contact with both.
I also have been looking after a friend's border terrier (pictured) more recently which has been fun and made me decide to offer a pet sitting service.
I am only taking one dog per day at my home (possibly two that live together) but my friend and dog visit now and again so there may be a chance for them to meet and perhaps walk together. In this situation I would suggest to you a meet in advance to check they are compatible. Other than that it's just me at home and occasional visits from family members or other friends.
I work from home, mostly, apart from a couple of hours a week working away (15 minute drive to work). I would not leave any dog unattended for over 3 hours and would make sure they are well settled before leaving them for any period of time. For my job I have 1 hour or 1 hour fifteen minute time slots during which I am teaching (usually up to once or twice per day) but am in the next room to where your pet would be staying. Your pet would stay in the downstairs reception room ànd snug (as pictured). Generally in the evenings I light the fire and sit in the snug. I also have an (optional) electric pet mat for the chair in the hallway which your pet may sleep on if wanted. I usually cover this with a blanket.
I am very keen on the outdoors and spend lots of time at local forests or the seafront so am happy, walking with a dog or even running/cycling with them should the owner wish but equally short walks and just letting them spend time at home if they are less energetic. I would expect to do up to 2 walks per day, depending on requirements, of up to half an hour. I might also offer one of those as a longer walk/run/cycle with me depending on the nature of the dog (i.e good recall) or just a long walk on the lead if preferable, and if I have availability in my schedule. I would also expect to add one or two toilet breaks up to around four per day. All of this is open to your preferences.
I live in quite a rural area so have many footpaths and open fields within a two minute walk. I have a small terrace area at the back of my house but this is kept for the cat's area to go in and out of the house however I can walk just out of the gate with immediate grass area to enable the dog to toilet or very quickly onto open fields.
I am completely open and understanding to listen to, and work with owner's preferences, to look after their precious pet such as keeping on lead when out, exercise routine or treats/no treats, feeding habits etc. Also should you wish to meet first to discuss your dog's visit (or my visit to you) then I would be more than happy to do so.
I would enjoy the company of your best friend and think they would enjoy the country holiday. (Please also be aware that any bookings on my calender may be external visits as I also visit other dogs and cats in their own homes. It's therefore worth checking my availability by sending a quick message).
Many thanks for your interest.
