Top cities for house sitting in United Kingdom

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Berkhamsted home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Berkhamsted.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Berkhamsted home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Please note - I am more suited to cat sitting due to having another job and working full time. However my shifts vary so please enquire and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
I am a true animal lover! I have two dogs, aged 7 and 8, who I’ve had since puppies. I also have a 4 month old Cockapoo puppy. I have also owned cats, guinea pigs and hamsters. I always loved animals, especially dogs, since I was little.
I have looked after neighbours, friends and family’s pets. I would love to do more of what I love and help people look after their dogs when they need it. I offer house sitting, drop ins and 1-1 dog walking.
I do have another job where I work shifts so my availability is dependant. I like to think I treat them as my own - with lots of fuss, love and cuddles. I am also more than happy to provide owners with photos and updates if they wish! I really am not doing this for the money, I want to do more of something I love and am passionate about.

I'm an experienced sitter with two years experience looking after homes and furry friends!
I'm a freelance journalist and producer which allows me plenty of freedom to work from home and look after pets where needed. I'm also very (extremely) clean and tidy so will always leave your homes in pristine condition.
I have been sitting on Trusted Housesitters for a number of years now, enjoying time in London and the Home Counties, as well as Bristol! I usually sit with my partner who has a car too in case it's necessary for longer walks or trips with the dog. We do not live together yet so enjoying time away gives us a chance to spend time exploring new areas. We love nothing more than dogs, walking & a great coffee so always welcome some great recommendations in your area!
Always happy to arrange a call or FaceTime to chat ahead of the sit

Hi! I’m a reliable, caring and trustworthy animal lover who understands that every pet deserves to feel safe, happy and loved while their owner is away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always take the time to learn their routine, personality and individual needs. I offer dog walking, home visits and overnight house sitting, ensuring your pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, playtime and companionship. During home visits I’ll provide fresh food and water, toilet breaks, medication if required and lots of fuss. For overnight stays, I’ll keep your pet comfortable in their own home while maintaining their usual routine and keeping your home tidy. I’m confident caring for dogs of different sizes, ages and temperaments, and I’ll always remain calm and responsible in unexpected situations. I’ll send regular photo and video updates so you can relax knowing your pet is in safe hands. I’m happy to arrange a meet and greet before every booking to make sure we’re the perfect fit and answer any questions you may have. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family!
I run my own business, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to adapt my day around your pet’s individual needs. Whether your dog enjoys longer walks, extra playtime, more frequent feeds or simply lots of companionship, I’m happy to tailor my care to suit them. As I’m home for most of the day, dogs are rarely left alone for more than a couple of hours. My own dog is walked three times a day, so regular exercise, enrichment and routine are a big part of my daily life. I’ll care for your pet with the same love, attention and dedication as I do my own.

I’ve grown up around dogs and have experience caring for my own as well as family and friends’ pets. I’m confident handling dogs with different personalities, energy levels and routines, and I’m patient with nervous or excitable dogs. I always prioritise safety by using secure leads, staying alert on walks and following any instructions you provide. If an emergency ever arose, I would remain calm, contact you immediately and seek veterinary care if needed, ensuring your pet’s wellbeing always comes first.

I am the proud owner of two beautiful British short hairs. I am so lucky to have grown up with dogs around me, and cannot wait till my partner and I get one of our own. I will treat , respect and care for your pet as I do for my own. I will ensure to cater for the needs of each individual pet.
I currently am in a full-time job where I work from home 3 days a week.I'm at home most weekends. When working from home, I'm able to do lunchtime walks as well as evening walks. And if scheduled correctly, I can also do morning walks on work from home days or weekends.
I have a fenced back garden, and also have my own car to pick up and transport your pet whenever needed. I live close to a large open area as well as Woodland good for walks.

Hi,Looking for a pet sitter. I am a job seeker. I am looking to earn some pocket money by spending time with your cute furry beings. I am Available for house sitting your furry friend. I am also willing to take them on walks 2-3 times a day. I also can take care of them while you're away for the day. I have experience with dogs and cats and I absolutely love them. I was born and brought up in a house full of pets. I had 3 German shepherds and 1 saint Bernard while growing up. Recently, I had 3rd generation of a German shepherd in our home names Shadow the IIIrd. His birthday is 17 July. And he passed in his sleep at 5 years old.I had 2 parrots fish separately names Golu and Cookie. I had a variety of fishes like parrots, peacock, betas, sliver disks, gold fish and even angel fish. I was unable to keep a dog because I was working and my parents couldn't take care of it anymore. And then I moved here. My saint Bernard named Docxy was like my little baby, we used to eat, sleep and even watch cartoons together. I grew up with her. We eventually have to give her away as Delhi was not a suitable climate for her. I gave up food for 2 days just cause I was very upset with the decision. She came to see me later for 2-3 years and we used to sleep on one another crying. I love my baby. Haven't seen her for ages. I hope she's happy and healthy.Anyway, I love pets. To that extent that I have planned a future with my significant other where I am going to be a mom to 3-4 dogs, 2 cats and a huge aquarium full Of fishes. That's my dream.

Hey there! My name is Kayleigh, and I hope this profile finds you well!
I am a very caring, organised, and kind person whose love for dogs has now become a dream—to be able to care for them full-time. While I do work an office job from home, I was getting quite lonely working remotely. Although I considered getting a dog myself, I understand the time, energy, and attention they need—which is a lot of responsibility to take on full-time by myself.
For the past two years, I’ve been caring for dogs while working from home and on weekends. My job is quiet flexible so I take them out to Cassiobury Park for nice walks, have sleepovers when owners go on holiday, and watch over them napping in a dog bed under my desk while I wrap up meetings. I tailor my schedule and day around what works best for your dog. Dog walk timings vary on the dogs and can be anything from hour long walk, to mulitple smaller walks during the day. I have dealt with dogs of various size and age so if they require any specific needs like medication, specific feeding routines or are quiet anxious I am equiped to support however you need to make the dog feel comfortable .
I’ve been enjoying getting to know more dogs while working from home . As I previously mentioned, my dream is to leave my desk job behind and work as a dog sitter/walker full-time. I am using Pawshake as a way to get more clients and experience while I go on this journey.
While taking care of any dog, I want to ensure I get to know them and give them the freedom to explore my space. I have a private, safe garden for them to potter around in, a comfy sofa and bed I’m happy to share, and a park close by for lots of walks and exploring. I love being in nature, and I like to offer a calm place for your dog to stay—so whether we are taking long walks in the park or relaxing at home, I will prioritise their needs while also enjoying the company they bring.

I grew up on a small farm, where I was responsible for looking after dogs, cats, chickens, and rabbits. This taught me from an early age how to care for animals with love and dedication.
To refresh my knowledge and ensure I provide the best possible care, I have completed a Pet Sitting and Dog Walking diploma & Pet First Aid Course.
I've always had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. After some time away from regularly being around them, I realized how much I missed that special connection. Becoming a pet sitter felt like the perfect way to reconnect with that joy—while also helping others care for their beloved pets I am a responsible, caring, and reliable pet sitter who treats every animal as if they were my own.
I am working from home, twice per week 2-3 hours online. This means I have plenty of free time and flexibility in my schedule to provide dedicated, reliable care for your pets.

Dear pet owners, I'm Jen, 31, and have over 20 years of experience with dogs and cats. I have been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. Having had my own family dog as a child and spending a total of 6 months in various dog/cat shelters over the last four years has given me a broad knowledge of dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds and how to care for them, feed them, administer medication, etc. Helping out at the dog shelter is a passion of mine and I want to help and care for animals wherever I can.
I offer individual and loving care as well as home visits to feed, clean the cat litter tray, walk the dog, play with your pet, give them cuddles and more. On request, overnight stays or multi-day care at your home are also possible, with regular updates and photos. Short-term bookings are also possible. I look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you and your pet!

Hi! My name is Jess and I absolutely adore animals of all shapes and sizes. I have had dogs, cats, guinea pigs and hamsters, so please send through any enquiries.
I have had a couple years of experience in house sitting for cats and dogs, and also dog walking, so I offer an array of services.
I will walk your dogs per household (so if you have multiple dogs in one household, I can walk these together, otherwise I will not mix dogs from different households). I have a German shepherd and a Labrador and so I am used to big dogs who require a stronger arm.
I will cater to your needs and make sure that your fur friend is loved and safe when in my care!
Please feel free to reach out and I will provide you with further information regarding my services. I am based in Hemel Hempstead and Weybridge.

Hi, we’re Gina & Ria - a mother & daughter cat-sitting duo.
We unintentionally fell into the wonderfully rewarding world of pet-sitting, after selling all our possessions to become digital nomads in June 2022.
We set off for what has been one of the best adventures of our lives, spending time in Thailand, Vietnam, Mauritius, Malaysia & the Canary Islands.
Last year we joined a housesit site and have fallen in love with so many cats that we are now completely hooked.
Gina is a retired teacher, author of 3 poetry and 1 short story book and a Happiness Coach.
Ria is an Empath coach, meditation teacher and Emotional Freedom Technique practitioner.
We are both vegan, animal lovers and reiki practitioners. We are often told by our clients that our great energy has a positive and calming effect on their kitties.
Two of our greatest loves are cats and travel.
That’s why it’s so important to us that your kitties receive all the love and stability they need whilst your away.
We understand that every cat is different and has it’s own personality, preferences and set of needs. Consequently we take the time to understand your cats unique needs so that we can tailor our approach and ensure your cats receive their upmost emotional and physical comfort.
We want you to be able to enjoy your time away knowing that your home and cat/s are being well taken care of.
We usually send daily updates, photos and videos so you can see your kitties are settled and happy.
