My motivation to be a pet sitter comes from the joy I get from building trust with animals and helping them feel safe, calm, and happy while their owners are away. I understand that leaving a pet can be stressful, so I focus on providing consistent, personalised care that mirrors their usual routine as closely as possible.
I have hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats with a variety of personalities, energy levels, and needs. For example, I’ve looked after energetic dogs who need longer, structured walks and plenty of playtime, as well as more relaxed or older pets who prefer gentle walks and quiet companionship. During walks, I stay alert to my surroundings, keep dogs on secure leads, and adjust pace and distance based on the dog’s comfort and ability.
I also have experience caring for pets who feel anxious or unsettled. In these situations, I take a calm, patient approach, using reassurance, routine, and familiar activities to help them relax. Playtime is always tailored to the pet — whether that’s throwing a ball, interactive games, or calm indoor play.
Safety and hygiene are always a priority for me. I closely supervise pets at all times, follow owner instructions carefully, and only accept fully vaccinated pets to ensure a healthy environment. My goal is to give every pet individual attention and every owner complete peace of mind.&nbsp;

My experience in this industry started as a teenager, providing overnight care for neighbours and relatives pets (spanning up to two weeks board on a number of occasions).
I started promoting my dog sitting services properly in 2024 and have since cared for 6 dogs. All of these owners have since rebooked with me, and I have another 3 dogs confirmed this year off the back of it. 
I hope my portfolio of fur babies continues to grow from this positive feedback, as I'd love to meet lots of new faces in 2025  

I have a strong passion about caring for dogs and cats, backed with a range of hands on experience surrounding companion animals. I have experience in dog grooming, a busy doggy daycare, and work in both kennel and cattery environments. These roles have given me extensive knowledge in husbandry and enrichment, ensuring pets' physical and mental well being due to the importance of making your pet feel at home and comfortable in my company. 

I have four years of education in the animal sector thus far, holding a level 3 animal management qualification and currently studying canine and feline behaviour and training at degree level. Combining practical experience and academic knowledge, I take pride in providing attentive, compassionate care to your furry companions, understanding individual needs and catering my environment to maximise their positive experience staying with me. 

For active dogs, I offer a dog walking service with lovely walking routes in the surrounding area to take them out into nature which boosts both their experience and my own, coming from somebody who loves the outdoors. Enrichment I offer can look like anything from snuffle mats to a game of hide and seek with treats for dogs with more independence. For dogs who enjoy engaging more with humans, I offer plenty of games we can play together using toys and the space in my environment. 

Daily food plans are catered to the individual under owners instructions, including administarting medications. In case of an emergency, the dog is transported to a safe location and owners are immediately contacted.&nbsp;

I've worked in veterinary industry for a number of years as well as growing up with animals from a young age. I’ve always had animals I don’t feel complete without them.
I have experience with handling, caring, medicating small and large animals.&nbsp;
Aswell as caring for the animals I work with I also have 2 Labrador’s and 1 jack russell of my own. Love them dearly. I love nothing more than taking them out on long walks and trips away, making memories. I’m terrible for snuggles with them too, can’t seem to sleep properly without them sharing my bed.

My dedication to animal welfare is deeply ingrained, I've been vegan for 10 years and vegetarian for 15 years prior to that. Growing up with animals from a very young age has given me a lifetime of hands on experience and understanding. Beyond pet sitting, I actively assist with animal rescue efforts and proudly donate a portion of my income from pet sitting to various animal charities both in the UK and internationally. Quick note: I work part-time, 8-10 hour shifts in Lindley, Huddersfield which prevent me from dog sitting long periods; cat sitting is fine as long as you're happy with me being away from the home for half the day on random days (3-4 days of the week). I'm relatively new to Pawshake however please don't mistake that for inexperience. I semi often look after my friends' cats and dogs whenever they go on holiday and I love it for mainly two reasons: One, I love hanging out, playing with and caring for my furry friends and Two, it means a lot to me that my friends trust me with their pets.&nbsp;My experience&nbsp;Over the years, I've dog and cat sat for quite a few of my friends. I believe the reason they always ask me is, not only do they trust me but also I've got to know their pets really well through play and being around them for long periods of time. Their pets are comfortable around me and me them. Having a dog growing up definitely helped me understand animals better (my wee Jack Russell, Toffee - I miss him so much! ) alas I do believe I'm naturally good with cats and dogs, regardless. My experience with dogs has ranged from looking after my friend Gail's two tiny Papillon, one very high energy and playful, the other older and more reserved, to my other friend Elisa's huge St. Bernard puppy - very friendly and sweet yet needed a lot of attention and play (and also a bit stubborn, not judging at all!). I have cat sat for my friends, Thomas and Adélie, quite a few times - they have a beautiful British Shorthair, Ravelle. I am privileged enough to have bonded with Ravelle from when he was a kitten with lots of play; I wish I could say cuddles but British Shorthair are not commonly known to be very cuddly! He is wary of most of Thomas and Adélie's friends but will happily sit very close to me when I visit, something my friends are always surprised at. I think it's because we bonded so well during those early years.Why I'm a dog walker / pet sitterThe main motivations for looking after animals is because I have decided to change my career. I'm studying to become a psychotherapist. This is much more suited to who I am as a person — I'm empathetic, caring and, ultimately, I want to help people. As I absolutely adore cats and dogs, to me, it's a no brainer to offer my services in any way I can as I'd be doing something I love and that I'm good at. I feel not only am I doing something I love but I'm helping people, which is a big part of my values and who I am as a person. Knowing your pet (let's face it, your furry child) is in safe and happy is crucial - I believe I have the experience and what it takes to just do that.&nbsp;
