Top cities for house sitting in United Kingdom

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Darwen home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Darwen.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Darwen home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

I’m an Australian animal lover currently living in Manchester for the next two years. I’ve grown up surrounded by pets my entire life and have a Certificate II in Animal Studies, along with five years of experience working in a veterinary clinic as a receptionist and junior vet nurse. Animals have always been at the centre of my world.

Back home, my fur baby Poppy — a 4‑year‑old Chinese Crested cross rescue — is staying with family while I’m abroad. I miss her every day, so spending time with other people’s pets brings me a lot of joy. I’m confident caring for dogs of all sizes, from tiny toy breeds right up to Great Danes, and I’ve also looked after a wide range of animals including cats, rabbits, chickens, sheep, cows, horses, and fish. Plus, I’d love the opportunity to meet and care for animals from all around the world while I’m travelling.

Outside of animal care, I’m a very chill, low‑key person. My friends affectionately call me a “nanna” because I don’t enjoy late nights out — I’m much happier with a cosy evening in, a warm drink, and a furry companion by my side. The one exception is my love of walking, which makes dog‑friendly adventures a perfect fit for me.

Caring for animals is something I’m genuinely passionate about, and I always treat every pet with the same love, patience, and respect I give my own.

Hello! My name is Vanessa, and I am a dedicated pet lover with five years of experience in dog ownership and pet sitting. My motivation comes from a passion for animals; I find caring for them incredibly fulfilling, as I value the bond and trust built with a pet in my care.
I currently work from home, which means I am almost always available to provide your pet with the optimal attention they deserve. Because my professional life is home-based, your pet will never feel lonely and will fit seamlessly into my daily routine of walks, playtime, and companionship.
Safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in a spacious two-bedroom flat where pets are welcome on the furniture and in every room. I want them to feel as relaxed as they do in their own home. For outdoor time, I have a large, high-fenced yard and garden that remains securely locked at all times, offering a safe environment for exercise and play without any risk of escape.
As a doctor(although no longer practicing) , I bring a unique level of observation to pet sitting. I am observant to changes in behavior and can spot physical or emotional abnormalities quickly, ensuring your pet is not only happy but healthy. Whether it’s long runs, maintaining hygiene, or just providing a calm presence, I am committed to treating your pet like family
My dogs are back home, very far away and I miss them so dearly so having pets around me really does bring me a form of comfort

My name is Freya and I absolutely love animals. From a very young age, my household has always had pets, from dogs and cats to rabbits and guinea pigs. I have lots of experience, especially with dogs and dog walking, as we have a Labrador called Bailey.
The reason I have decided to apply to be a pet sitter is because alongside my placement, I would love to spend my free time looking after animals and helping out other pet owners. Caring for animals is something I genuinely enjoy, and it fits perfectly around my current routine.
I really value the companionship animals bring, and I would treat any pet in my care as if they were my own. I am reliable, caring, and happy to accommodate different needs and routines. I would not be fussy with which animals I look after!
Due to being on a teaching placement until late June, my availability will be limited to evenings and weekends only.

Hi I’m Lauren the heart behind FureverPawPals I offer loving and dependable in home pet sitting for your furry family members I’ve been caring for pets professionally since July 2025 and work closely with my local dog walker where I also completed my college work placement Through that experience I gained hands on knowledge of animal care daily routines and the importance of trust and consistency

I understand that pets are family and deserve care that feels personal and familiar My goal is to provide comfort and consistency right in your own home where your pets feel safest and happiest I care for vaccinated pets only to ensure the wellbeing of every animal in my care Whether you’re away for a weekend or a longer trip I follow your pets routines closely offering walks meals playtime and plenty of love

Please enquire if you have any questions

I am an all round animal fanatic with multiple years pet sitting experience and a lifetime of being obsessed with cats :) My motivation for pet sitting is mainly due to the fact I have a serious lack of animal time in my life! My previous pet sitting experience has ranged from dog boarding and walking to home stays, ranging from changing litter to administrating medicine, grooming, playtime, cuddles, feeding and general love and affection!Services I offer-Dog walking - available on weekends and evenings for dog walking, which will typically be an hour, but happy for longer if agreed beforehand. Please provide bags, lead & a toy of preference :)Daily drop ins - For these visits I will typically pop in for a couple of hours to provide a nice bit of company for your pet. During this time I will give them a fuss, have some playtime, refresh their water, put out fresh food and clean any litter that needs doing.Animal boarding at your house - I shall look after both your pet and home at the same time! Your pet will be brushed, fed, watered and loved and the safety of your property will be my upmost priority during my stay. I will ensure everything is left clean and tidy, plants are watered and Mail is brought in. Please just leave a list of specifics before my stay, such as feeding times, any medicine I need to administer, double locking the door etc etc. I will also be sure to update you during my stay every day with pictures and updates so you have peace of mind and can relax/ enjoy your break away!I can’t wait to look after your fur baby :)

Your family member deserves an experienced pet sitter.

I have experience caring for my two cats (one of the cats passed away at 24 years old ). Apart from caring for my pet, I have also cared for my friend's pet in Hong Kong. So, those experiences have made me build up the skills to provide attentive and loving care, manage daily routines, and ensure pets' overall well-being. Our commitment and genuine passion for animals make us reliable and nurturing pet sitters ready to extend the same level of care to your beloved pet.
I have a very flexible schedule, which allows us to take excellent care of your pets. I provide service of home visit of a day and house sitting, please feel free to contact me.
Also, I’m a Jikiden Reiki Practitioner, and Reiki will work on all living things. So, Reiki Treatments for animals is a good idea. Suppose your pet is suffering from anxiety or disease. Please let me know so we can discuss this.
