Top cities for house sitting in United Kingdom

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Didcot home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Didcot.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Didcot home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hi, my name is Hector, I am from Mexico and I absolutely love dogs! I have a dog back in Mexico who I miss so much, I rescued aquaria 5 years ago from the streets and I can't wait to bring her to the UK one day!
I enjoy so much walking dogs, get to know their personality and provide them a safe space where they feel the companion and the love.
I offer my services as a dog walker but also I can take care of them at your own house.
My biggest motivation in this job is to build the confidence on your dogs, make them feel love and entertained.
I do a lot of dog walks back home with my own dog and my friends dogs. Every day we go into adventures to the park, to the beach, just long walks at sunsets so I thought why not to do it here in Oxford.
I hope to meet you and your dogs soon

Hello there! I live in a charming village in South Oxfordshire and for the past four years, I've been looking after dogs in my home, providing daycare, boarding, andwalking services, while working from home.
I love dogs - caring for them brings me companionship and joy, and that's what motivates me to keep doing it. I enjoy walking and will walk your dog at least once a day.
I am now offering home sitting services to look after your beloved pet in the comfort of your home, and extending my care to other pets, including cats, rabbits, hens, tortoise, etc.
My only ask is to have access to WiFi as I work remotely in a flex schedul.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any help or have any questions.
Thank you for reading me. I look forward to meeting you and your beloved pet! Have a lovely day. Carla

Hi! I’m Toby, and I’ve always had a genuine love for animals. I’m a friendly, patient and responsible person who enjoys spending time with pets and making sure they feel safe, comfortable and cared for. I understand that every pet is different, so I always take the time to learn their routine and what they’re comfortable with.
I offer dog walking, doggy daycare and overnight house sitting. For walks, I’ll follow your dog’s normal routine, whether that’s a quick walk around the local area or a longer walk to give them plenty of exercise. I’ll also follow any instructions you give me, such as keeping them on a lead, avoiding certain areas or giving them time to stop and sniff. After the walk, I’ll make sure they have fresh water and are settled comfortably.
If your pet needs medication, I’m happy to follow clear instructions from you, such as giving tablets with food or at a specific time. I’ll make sure I understand exactly what is needed before giving anything and will let you know once it has been done.
For overnight house sitting, I’ll keep your pet’s normal routine as much as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime and settling them down for the night. I’m also happy to send owners updates and photos so you know how your pet is getting on.
I’m comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities, sizes and energy levels. I’m currently a university student, so my availability can vary around my studies, but I’ll always be clear about when I’m available. My main priority is making sure your pet feels happy, safe and well looked after while you’re away

Hiya! I'm Kara and I'm a long standing animal lover whose had my fair share of experience looking after both cats and dogs. I adore keeping your animals company whilst keeping them entertained walked and fed, and I am relatively flexible on their needs as specified by you!
I volunteered in a cat sanctuary in the past where I helped administer medication, clear litter and help with the overall upkeep of over 100 cats (!). It was an incredible enriching experience that provided me with skills I can use to assist your pets too. I've also cat sit before across the world , keeping owners happy and informed of how their kitty is getting on.
But I also have experience with dogs having had one myself- walking, entertaining, feeding and playing are all strong suits of mine. I have provided dog walking to those in my local area including medium to large size dogs. I usually take them to large parks providing walks of around half and hour, but this is flexible to your dogs needs!
I'm based in the Inner Oxford area but have access to a car so I can get a bit further afield.
I hope we can build a great relationship together as I assist you with your furry friends!

Hi! My name is Lizzie and I love being with animals and in nature. I am a youthful, very responsible, calm and friendly 52 year old. I was brought up in the English countryside and have had dogs, cats and guinea pigs most of my life until more recently when life became unsuitable for owning pets because of travelling etc. I'm not much of a photo person so don't have many pics of me with animals as yet! :) More recently I have often taken care of my friend's two very sweet yorkie poos - Lalla from about 13 years ago until she sadly passed from lung cancer almost 2 years ago, and more recently Lalla's grandson Thor, a very bouncy, sweet 2 year old and ridiculously cute!I was inspired to try housesitting on my recent trip to Australia (my partner is from Victoria). We met with friends, one of whom is also housesitting, and two others who had lovely dogs I wished I could spend more time with.
In the past I have worked with children through social services, worked as a receptionist in a healthcare centre, and I now rent a room in my house on airbnb. I love to make people happy during their stay, and have been a 'superhost' for over 2 years. I love to spend time with animals - and I greatly miss having a pet. My priority will always be to ensure that your pet is taken care of according to their needs - whether they like to play, cuddle or just be, whether they are excited or anxious, I will help them feel relaxed and allow them to set the pace of our interaction.
I need to be able to get home easily for airbnb things, and I'm currently carless so a bit limited with distance, but I'm happy to meet owners and animals before a sit starts, especially as I'm new on this site, to put potential pet parents at ease, and I can do a sit at short notice. I'm very much looking forward to meeting you and your beloved pets!

Hi, I’m Elle, and I’ve grown up around dogs my entire life. From dog walking and house sitting to caring for multiple breeds, looking after dogs has always been second nature to me. I’m the proud owner of Frankie, a wire-haired Hungarian Vizsla, and I’ve also cared for everything from energetic pups to a household of five dachshunds.
I love spending time outdoors and going on long countryside walks, so your dog will enjoy plenty of exercise, fresh air, and fun while in my care. My home offers a fully fenced and secure garden with double gates for added safety, giving dogs a safe space to play and relax.
Frankie is friendly, sociable, and loves meeting new dogs—her idea of fun is usually a running race! Alongside dogs, we have a very calm tortoise, which most dogs find fascinating. You can trust that your dog will be cared for in a safe, loving, and active environment where their happiness always comes first

I have been an active animal fosterer for nearly 10 years and have been heavily involved in caring for cats and dogs for locat rescue centres, primarily in their emergency care. I have gained a strong awareness of animal behaviour and know how to help ease the stress and anxiety which you and your pets can face when being in a new environment. I am able to help animals feel comfortable and let them have a very positive experience when away from their owners.I have a strong network of animal lovers who have dozens of years experience and help me grow as a carer.I have a lot of experience of looking after people's pets as well as helping pets to adjust for new situations, basic training and socialising to adjust to the needs of their owners. I take the care of the animals very seriously and do everything I can to ensure they have a fun and enjoyable time when in my care.

With over six years of pet sitting experience, I have been a live-in and live-out pet sitter globally, including the USA and Australia.
I have worked with both cats and dogs ranging from kittens and puppies, as well as elderly cats and dogs. I am confident training young puppies and have experience raising and training a puppy. I have worked with dogs of all sizes and am happy caring for and walking multiple dogs. Having owned a cat myself I find cats easy to bond with and have lots of experience caring for cats.
I have received nothing but positive feedback from the families of pets I have cared for. I will always send photos of your pets at your request! Animals are truly my passion and I love working with them.
I'm really flexible with pet sitting dates and can usually accommodate and changes. I have also worked as an in-home cleaner so I'd be more than happy to clean in a live-in situation!
Feel free to reach out to me to organise dates and times. I am also happy to do a free in-home visit.

Please note: I do not drive - I reach people’s homes by bike or bus.

My availability:

I will be studying Animal Management from 9th September to beginning of July 2026. Term breaks will be added soon.

I am always looking for ways to develop my skills if that means volunteering, researching or studying animal-related courses.
My last couple months of doggy experience have come from volunteering on the app ‘BorrowMyDoggy’

I am comfortable with all pets such as dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles and fish.

now that I am in Oxford, I'd love to give your beautiful pets some of this love in the form of walks, sittings, and just caring for them as if they were my own. I promise I'll try my best to fit your dog's individual needs and energy levels. It’s pretty important to me to get to know your pet’s personality and boundaries to ensure a nice experience 🫶 From leisurely strolls, pet sitting for one or more nights, or just checking that they have what they need, I'll do my best to create a safe and enjoyable experience for your beautiful pet!
