Hi, I'm Andy. I'm an artist, sculptor and van-lifer. I'm a practising Buddhist (so taking special care of your pets and house is very good karma in my book :-). I’ve always been around animals, to me they are always family, and feel they add a particular joy and bliss to everything, and, for me as a Buddhist, they are the best teachers of being in the moment. 
I’ve cared for and loved animals for over 30 years, including many dogs, cats, birds, chickens, hamsters and the odd goat and horse. I’ve also volunteered for animals charities over the years. I’ve experienced most situations and particular emotional and/or medical needs when it comes to animals, especially caring for older animals. 
The reason I became a pet-sitter officially was so I could be with animals – as for me, travelling in a camper wasn’t an ideal place for a pet). So for the past five years as a sitter, I cared for pets in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, and across the UK. I am experienced, caring and compassionate. I love going on nature walks, being creative, reading, and enjoying the simple pleasures in life, mainly warm scones. I'm a non-smoker and drinker, and a lover of routine.
It’s very important to offer a calm and consistent environment for a pet. If the pet feels safe, happy, and cared for, you can build trust. It’s also very important to build trust with an owner, for peace of mind knowing that their loved pet is well looked after. I make sure any space is pet-proof and comfortable and remain consistent in established feeding and activity routine. I maintain constant supervision, especially if there are multiple pets. And, if required, I will happily offer updates about a pet's activities, behaviours, and well-being.
I'm my own boss, so I am very flexible and adaptable. Essentially my office, art studio and home is my camper van ‘Bella’. I am lover of routine, and, as part of Buddhist practice, I meditate and clean everyday.

I have recently moved back to the UK from New Zealand, where I was a dance movement therapist specialising in P.T.S.D. and trauma related challenges for women and children both clinically and in the education system.&nbsp;&nbsp;
In between sessions I would dog walk for friends and friends of friends as well as cat sit.   The attunement and care is not too disimilar for both animals and humans!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Empathy, kindness and reading the needs of your pet is such a beautiful part of the developing relationship.&nbsp;
On first meeting, my gentle, slow approach helps to regulate the nervous system of the each pet whilst maintaining a confident, boundaried demeanour when out walking helps them to feel assured and happy.&nbsp;
I love all animals and this gives me the opportunity to support people with a safe pair of hands whilst you are away.  Knowing that your furry family member will be cared for and adapted to whilst following the your wishes is all part of the service.

I have been working as a vet receptionist since 2023 and it is the most rewarding job I have had. Daily contact with pets makes work feel enjoyable and I want to spend time looking after pets outside of my work hours too. I became a professional pet sitter with Very Important Pets around the same time I started my job at the vets and have been doing cat feeding visits, live-in cat and dog sits with many repeat clients. I am hoping that I can make these pet sits more regular by creating a profile on Pawshake.
I completed first-aid training and have working knowledge of emergency triaging for cats and dogs, as well as procedural knowledge about vet practices and medications. I am also aspiring to become a vet when the time is right, so I have a keen interest in small animal pathology and am trying to pick up as much as I can on the job.
