Top cities for house sitting in United Kingdom

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Elland home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Elland.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Elland home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

My motivation for pet sitting is that I’m an animal lover through and through. Growing up I was always surrounded by animals — whether it was the horses in the fields behind my house, the cats and dog we had at home, or the animals at my grandparents’ houses, I loved them all. Some of my fondest memories are long walks on the moors with my grandad and his dog.

I now work as a self-employed hairdresser, which gives me the flexibility to manage my own schedule and drop in and out of work as needed. This means I can dedicate plenty of time to pet sitting and giving animals the care and attention they need. I’ve had lots of experience being around dogs at work too, as my salon is pet-friendly and clients often bring their dogs along. I’m always happy to walk them, feed them, and make sure they’re well looked after.

At home, I currently have one cat called Sunny. She’s 12 years old and has been with me since she was just 8 weeks old from the RSPCA. She’s my little sweetheart — very gentle and timid — and she tends to follow me everywhere. Because Sunny is shy and doesn’t feel comfortable around other animals, I only offer pet sitting in the owners’ home, not my own.

Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’d love to be able to give your pets the same love and care I give to my own.

Mature, lady who can pet sit in your . I will comfort your special babies while you're away, lots of cuddles and brushing, playing to make their time pass.
I am an emergency service worker and work shifts, and house sittings will be around my days off or will take leave where required.
I no longer have a dog due to old age passing last year. I do however own a miniature Shetland pony which I absolutely adore after rescuing him. I have had my own dogs all my life so long of experience with various breeds of dogs and owned horses for the last 18 years.I do daily visits to my neighbours cat while they are away, including feeding, giving medication, cleaning tray and grooming.
I have looked after friends and families pets in their own home previously . I look after my daughter's french bulldog when she goes away, he loves coming to stay at Grandma's.

I am available for House Sitting and 1 pet visit daily service..I know what it is like to search for reliable pet sitters and peace of mind when you can't take your pets away (whether visiting family or taking a well deserved break). I will maintain your pets routine for mealtimes, care, cuddles and walks. I have a car in case of any emergencies, which includes dog harness to secure your beloved pet.
I am reliable and trustworthy with lots of walking/playing energy and will listen to and apply your exact instructions. I also bring my own bedsheets and towel when housesitting (to save on any extra housework)...I'd be happy to send photos or updates during your time away for reassurance. Please note, a meet and greet is essential prior to a booking.

My dedication to animal welfare is deeply ingrained, I've been vegan for 10 years and vegetarian for 15 years prior to that. Growing up with animals from a very young age has given me a lifetime of hands on experience and understanding. Beyond pet sitting, I actively assist with animal rescue efforts and proudly donate a portion of my income from pet sitting to various animal charities both in the UK and internationally. This isn't just a job for me, it's a core part of my commitment to animal wellbeing.I am a devoted animal lover with a genuine passion for pet care, specialising in making even the most timid animals feel comfortable and loved. There's nothing I enjoy more than showering animals with affection and ensuring their happiness. I pride myself on going above and beyond to meet the unique needs of every pet in my care.To ensure everyone is happy with the arrangement, I offer complimentary meet and greets before confirming any bookings. You can also rest assured knowing I am fully insured and DBS checked (my status is continuously updated through the NHS auto enrolment service). Furthermore, I hold a Level 3 qualification in Animal Management, which I earned through a comprehensive three year college program.

Hi, I’m Sarah! I’m a lifelong animal lover who grew up in a very pet-mad family, so animals have always been a huge part of my life.
Over the years I’ve owned and cared for cats, dogs (large and small breeds), rats, parrots, guinea pigs and rabbits, so I’m very comfortable around animals of all shapes, sizes and personalities. I’ve also helped friends with pet sitting and dog walking, and I really enjoy getting to know each animal’s individual routine, personality and little quirks.
I’m currently living in the UK for two years and am missing all of our family pets back home in New Zealand. House sitting feels like the perfect way for me to have some much-needed animal company while giving someone else peace of mind that their pets are being genuinely loved and cared for while they’re away.
I’m a kind, compassionate, clean and responsible person, and I’d always treat your home with the same care and respect as I would my own. I’m happy to follow your pets’ normal routines, whether that means feeding, playtime, cuddles, medication, keeping them company or getting out for regular dog walks, adapting to their energy level and favourite routes.
I’m flexible with location and very happy to live in for the duration of a sit. My aim is to make things as easy and stress-free as possible for both you and your pets, so you can enjoy your time away knowing they’re in caring and reliable hands.
I’d love the opportunity to look after your furry, feathered or small animal family and give them plenty of love and attention while you’re away.

I really want to be a pet sitter because I am passionate about animals and keeping them safe and entertained. I have always been around animals and I know how to look after them properly. I am currently in college doing animal management and at 17, I know a lot about different animals and their safety. I will always make it my best interest to keep your pets safe and healthy. I will not be able to take your animals to my home but I will make sure they are safe in your own home so you can feel at ease. My previous experience include volunteering in a dog groomers, having cats my whole life and walking family friends dogs when they couldn't. This makes me experienced in all kinds of animals and what to do if something happens. I would like to work in this industry because it ties in with my college course and it is what I'm passionate about.

I am an experienced and reliable pet sitter with hands-on experience caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. I understand that every dog is unique, with their own personality, needs, and routines, and I always take the time to ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy in my care.
I have two dogs and a cat of my own, so looking after animals is a big part of my everyday life, and I treat every pet as if they were part of my family. Whether your dog needs plenty of exercise, calm companionship, or extra patience and reassurance, I adapt to suit them.
I am passionate about animals and genuinely love what I do, and I would be delighted to meet and care for your pet, giving you complete peace of mind while you are away.
Please feel free to message me with any questions you might have.
I am happy to work with you and arrange the right care for your pets

Hi, I’m Tanya! I live in Halifax with my husband and our two friendly cats. We’ve both loved animals for as long as we can remember, and caring for them is something we truly enjoy. Our home is calm, safe and pet-friendly, with a secure garden where pets can relax under supervision.
I offer boarding for cats who are comfortable living with other friendly cats, as well as home visits, overnight stays and full-time house sitting in your home. I also welcome small dogs (up to 10 kg) for boarding and home care. Before every booking, I’m happy to arrange a free meet and greet so we can get to know each other and make sure it’s the right fit.
Someone is usually at home, as my husband often works from home, so your pet will receive plenty of company and attention. In rare cases, pets may be left alone for up to 3 hours. I carefully introduce guest cats to my own cats at a pace that suits them, helping them feel safe and relaxed. If needed, your cat can have a quiet space in our living room or kitchen until they feel comfortable.
I have cared for cats all my life, raised three abandoned kittens until they found loving homes, looked after friends’ small dogs during holidays, and regularly care for cats in their own homes while their owners are away. I’m experienced with shy and nervous cats and always take the time to earn their trust. I also enjoy caring for friendly small dogs. I do not accept aggressive pets, as the safety of all animals is my priority.
I’m happy to follow your pet’s usual routine, including feeding schedules, playtime, grooming if they enjoy it, and giving oral medication. I can also administer injections when caring for pets in their own home. If I’m looking after a dog, walks are tailored to their needs and usually last between 30 and 60 minutes, once or twice a day, depending on your preferences.
If your pet becomes unwell, I’ll contact you immediately. If needed, I’ll take them to the nearest veterinary clinic, which is only about a 20-minute walk from my home.
You’ll receive daily photos and videos, so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, loved and well cared for. I speak both English and Russian, and I’ll treat your pet with the same love, patience and attention that I give my own animals.

I’ve loved dogs all my life, and that love grew even stronger because of my Pomeranian, who lived joyfully with me for ten years before passing away due to health reasons. Losing him was heartbreaking, but it also reminded me how deeply I connect with animals and how much comfort they bring. I truly believe dogs are the best beings on earth, and becoming a pet sitter allows me to stay close to that happiness while supporting owners who want their pets to feel safe and cared for. I have experience looking after dogs for friends and neighbours, helping with walks, feeding, playtime, gentle routines and general daily comfort. I enjoy getting to know each dog’s personality and making sure they feel understood and relaxed. For safety, I only take vaccinated pets into my home. I offer a calm, clean and friendly environment where every dog is welcomed with genuine love and attention.

Hi I'm John, I am family man of 6 children and many grandchildren, we have had pets all our life so far, dogs which are great companions called lucky and Beauty, they were loved and cared for many years ago, love playing and walking and cuddles groomed , also we have had many cats and kittens, also loved and cared for, especially my own cat cheeky, she was a cheeky girl got In to mischief but that was her personality. She got in to trouble with community whom sadly miss treated her abused her, ever fire works attached to her , this created anxiety and depression to her life, she also got knocked over by car had her pelvis rebuilt , thankfully made full recovery with my support she got back on her feet. She has been my friend and companion for over 21 years after passing. She is still with me in my heart. She comes where ever I am. Now we have a two year old cat Harry new in our family.
Every pet deserves the love and attentiveness and a friend. I am happy to come and spend time with your friends too. To help care for your loved ones and support them, sadly I am unable to provide boarding or day care in my home as I'm not licensed as of yet. But I do believe in your pets best interest they are more comfortable in their own home environment.

Quick note: I work part-time, 8-10 hour shifts in Lindley, Huddersfield which prevent me from dog sitting long periods; cat sitting is fine as long as you're happy with me being away from the home for half the day on random days (3-4 days of the week). I don't have a car and only pet sit in areas within an 8 mile cycle radius of Huddersfield. Thanks.Introduction Hello! I'm Chris. I'm relatively new to Pawshake however please don't mistake that for inexperience. I semi often look after my friends' cats and dogs whenever they go on holiday and I love it for mainly two reasons: One, I love hanging out, playing with and caring for my furry friends and Two, it means a lot to me that my friends trust me with their pets. My experience Over the years, I've dog and cat sat for quite a few of my friends. I believe the reason they always ask me is, not only do they trust me but also I've got to know their pets really well through play and being around them for long periods of time. Their pets are comfortable around me and me them. Having a dog growing up definitely helped me understand animals better (my wee Jack Russell, Toffee - I miss him so much! ) alas I do believe I'm naturally good with cats and dogs, regardless. My experience with dogs has ranged from looking after my friend Gail's two tiny Papillon, one very high energy and playful, the other older and more reserved, to my other friend Elisa's huge St. Bernard puppy - very friendly and sweet yet needed a lot of attention and play (and also a bit stubborn, not judging at all!). I have cat sat for my friends, Thomas and Adélie, quite a few times - they have a beautiful British Shorthair, Ravelle. I am privileged enough to have bonded with Ravelle from when he was a kitten with lots of play; I wish I could say cuddles but British Shorthair are not commonly known to be very cuddly! He is wary of most of Thomas and Adélie's friends but will happily sit very close to me when I visit, something my friends are always surprised at. I think it's because we bonded so well during those early years. Why I'm a dog walker / pet sitterThe main motivations for looking after animals is because I have decided to change my career. I'm studying to become a psychotherapist. This is much more suited to who I am as a person — I'm empathetic, caring and, ultimately, I want to help people. As I absolutely adore cats and dogs, to me, it's a no brainer to offer my services in any way I can as I'd be doing something I love and that I'm good at. I feel not only am I doing something I love but I'm helping people, which is a big part of my values and who I am as a person. Knowing your pet (let's face it, your furry child) is in safe and happy is crucial - I believe I have the experience and what it takes to just do that.

My approach combines reliability and a gentle, nurturing demeanor. I am skilled in feeding, walking, and administering medication, and I take pride in maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for pets. I have experience with [specific types of pets, e.g., dogs, cats, etc.], and I enjoy engaging them in activities that promote their happiness and well-being.
I believe that each pet deserves individualized care, and I am committed to ensuring they feel comfortable and loved while their owners are away. I would love the opportunity to contribute to your pets’ happiness and well-being.
I pride myself on being reliable and attentive. I offer daily updates and photos to pet owners, providing peace of mind while they are away. My goal is to create a safe, stimulating environment where pets can thrive. I enjoy engaging pets in activities that promote their happiness, whether it’s long walks, playtime, or simply cuddling on the couch.
In addition to my hands-on experience, I am also trained in pet first aid and CPR, giving me the confidence to handle any emergencies that may arise. I understand the importance of maintaining a routine that aligns with each pet’s needs and preferences.
