"We'd had a hectic year and were looking forward to the summer holidays. However, the person who usually looks after our pets had started an apprenticeship, so wouldn't be able to help us.
Prices for someone to look after two dogs, two cats (one that needs medication) and a snake can be quite steep.
I decided to try Pawshake to find someone that would do homesitting, and after contacting a few people, Maria got back to me. We followed up with a visit and a booking.
Throughout our holidays, she sent me daily pictures of our pets, and even the most difficult ones warmed up to her, which is surprising, since they don't even get that close to me.
The dogs, especially, were very happy with Maria. They were given regular walks, cuddles and even got to watch the 2026 World Cup Final (which was a bit of a let down, to be honest, but they don't know that much about football, anyway).
Maria was great, she kept the house clean and washed the things she used during her final day. I felt much more comfortable with her than anything I had expected. She will definitely be on our minds next time we're planning some time away."

"Paula was amazing with my 2 puppy girls, she took care of them for a week while I was on holidays. She was sending me videos of my babies day and night so I was very relaxed under her care. She even cook for them and took them for walks. Paula haves plenty of experience with animals and is a dog lover too. "Jemma came and house sat for us for the first time last weekend and she was amazing. I felt confident to leave my dogs, I have three, in her care. I returned home to happy dogs and it was peace of mind to know someone was there for them during our absence. She also cared for our chickens and they were happy too. "Natalia was a superb dog sitter in our house. She communicated with us daily sending photographs and messages about our dog which made us feel really reassured. When we returned our dog was happy and healthy and had clearly been very well looked after. Also our house was spotless with a vase of flowers! We really could not have asked for anything more. "Julie looked after our two cats for a week and we couldn’t have had a better experience! From the initial contact we knew we were in good hands; excellent communication, knowledgable and honest. Julie took such good care of our cats and house and provided regular updates and photo’s. One of our cats is very anxious around strangers but Julie made extra effort with him and managed to make him comfortable, she is now one of only a few people he will purr and lounge with! 10/10 recommend Julie a wonderful cat sitter! "Our dog Kojak was in love with Lydia from the moment they met and he is very particular about who he will go to. Felt very happy leaving him and our cat Jib in her care while we were on holiday for two weeks and she was great at updating us with pics of her with the pets. It was lovely to relax while we were away knowing that they were happy in her care. Everything was ship shape on our return and we would very much like to use her again in the future. "

"Pavan and Anusha successfully looked after our border collie for a couple of days for us in our house. Kiki enjoyed her walks and cuddles with them and they looked after her very well. They were also very respectful and attentive and communicated well. I loved their enthusiasm when meeting and the fact they were looking forward to being with Kiki. "Anna stayed at my home and looked after my cat for 10 days. I found Anna to be really trustworthy. She contacted me daily with updates and wasn’t scared to seek clarification on things (which I found reassuring). I came home to find both cat and home as I left them - which is precisely what I wanted! My cat had clearly been cared for in her own environment- so I wasn’t met by a sulky cat!
