Top cities for house sitting in United Kingdom

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Pontefract home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Pontefract.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Pontefract home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Due to the pandemic, the entertainment business I worked in suffered catastrophically and my business had to foreclose due to the lockdown, and so now I find myself a early retired young at heart and physically fit lady who would like to do a small but valuable job that helps other out. I know kennels are not happy places for both cats and dogs, so home sitting is the perfect solution and I would like to play a small part in a loved animals welfare and happiness.
I would happily feed and play or walk your most loved dog cats or furry feathery friend whenever required and administer tablets to a well-mannered animal. I am home everyday so your pet would not be left anymore than an hour without company if boarding or visiting for the day. Animals looked after in their home would be pampered fed and watered during their visitation.I would send daily updates along with photos for your peace of mind whilst you are away from home for longer than a day. I would also empty litter trays if required.
Although I don't at present have any of my own pets, both my partner and I have had dogs in the past so are well versed in their wants and needs. We often look after my son's dog and also my sister in law's, along with another son's ginger tom cat. We have a fully enclosed safe and secure outdoor space for your dog to relax and watch the world go by until he or she sees you on your return to collect them.
I am happy to have one well-behaved pet board for up to one week at a time or I will visit daily a pets home in my locality. Dogs walks would be twice a day for half an hour each time for residents and a single one hour walk for day visitors. I will only host one pet at a time as I think your pet deserves to have my undivided attention whilst you are away.
My partner and myself do have a preference to pets not being allowed upstairs, but if you have an exceptionally good animal that behaves well in the bedroom we may reconsider in certain circumstances.
Please don't hesitate to contact me for more details.

I've been dog walking professionally for years, as well as boarding. We've had everything from Pomeranians to Alaskan Malamutes. I've handled extremely strong (physically and mentally) dogs of all breeds so I'm not put off by much! All the dogs get to stay in a home from home environment during their stay, they allowed on sofas and have free roam of the house, we try to encourage to stay off the bed but can always have a quick cuddle in the morning. On walks, I take most my dogs to secure fields where they can be let off lead and have full freedom, as well as a good play with other dogsI've got qualifications in Animal Management, Canine Buisness and I'm Pet First Aid trained. I'm a massive dog person and always have been! I finally got my first dog in 2021 and he's the best thing I've ever bought. He's super chill and loves company from fellow dog friends. Although massive on dogs, I am partial to a cat or two Your pets will be very well cared for and loved unconditionally.

10% off 1st bookings and visits in WF9 post code area!

--Services--
Pet sitting - 24 hour overnight care in your house. My rate includes up to 2 pets dogs/cats and 3 additional (3 x cages or tanks of rodents/ bunnies, birds, fish etc) This option is brilliant for animals that may have separation anxiety, general anxiety, elderly Animals, puppies and ones that do not do well with other pets or places, pets that need focused care and companionship and like their own surroundings and routine. This will consist of me being a key holder and guest in your home, eating and sleeping (I need a guest bed/clean sofa, use of the toilet and sink, a kettle for tea/coffee and maybe broadband access but bring my own bedding, food and drink and always shower at home)
Drop in visits - either 1 or 2 half hour visits per day to pets in your home. Generally cats that need basic services such as food, water and litter changes or independent dogs that do not require round the clock care such as when you are at work or if they are less mobile. Will just need a key and use of a toilet.
These services being provided in your home also means you do not need to worry about vaccinations, kennel cough, being in heat, on medication, recovering from illness etc
Times are flexible to suit for both options and you may want a combination of both dependent on the time you are leaving/returning.
extras - additional prices for more than 2 pets. Injectable medication. Pre agreed vet or training visits to cover travel and time. Drop offs/pick ups if your pets need to be transferred to or from an address other than the normal home location
Discounts - 1 free visit/walk per month provided for weekly re-occurring visits of more than 3 visits per week after qualifying period of 4 weeks
Walks
45 minute walk in the local area up to 2 dogs. Alternatively a shorter walk and food/drink, games and cuddles for the 45 minute duration - your choice
I only walk your dogs - they will have 100% of my attention. Sorry, I do not walk aggresive/reactive dogs or muzzled dogs
--What To Expect--
I focus on keeping as close to your pets everyday routine to lessen any stress of you not being there, lots of cuddles, stimulation and engagement.
For new clients I will always ask to complete a meet and greet so I fully understand your pets needs and what ideal pet sitting/drop in visits look like to you. I get to know your dog and ensure I am 100% prepped for your booking.
I have my own car with dog harness and am very reliable, communicate clearly and you can depend on me to leave your house clean and tidy, your plants watered, mail moved away from the door, curtains opened/closed, rubbish disposed of wheelie bins put out for collection and bought back in, downstair main rooms mopped and hoovered at the end of a stay of 3 days or more and your privacy respected throughout.
Litter trays will be cleaned and changed regularly, exact food and toileting/walking routine followed and the utmost care and attention provided to your furry babies, whether that is goig for a long energetic walk, a tootle round the park, ball games or just snuggling up on the rug or sofa for belly rubs and cuddles
I am flexible to tailor the right care required whether drop in visits/all day and night visits or something inbetween. I travel up to 10 miles from WF9 for drop ins
I love all pets - but have a special place in my heart for Staffys having had these since being a teenager and have also had cats, chipmunks, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits and a chinchilla. Ive cared for all these animals for friends and families from being a teenager with chickens, pigs, ducks and geese being added to the list. Since offering paid professional care I have cared for both indoor and outdoor cats including one that required multiple medicines each day, pedigree and mixed breed dogs, mice and an axolotle! I am happy to feed and provide water, food and bedding checks for caged rodents, fish, birds, guinea pigs and rabbits, chinchillas and chipmunks, tortoise and hedgehogs. I do not care for an insects, spiders, reptiles or snakes, pets that are aggressive to humans or walk dogs that are actively aggressive to other dogs/have to be muzzled.
--A bit about me--
I am a house proud 'mature' Mum of 2 teenage boys and an adult daughter. I work part time for a Building Society Mon-Weds from home mainly, lived in Hemsworth for +10 years and have many professional qualifications within my finance position. I've found myself with free time having moved to part time co parenting and reduced work hours and my boys seemingly wanting to sit on Xboxes all day and not mingle with their mother!....I want to use that time to do what I love and excel at - shining up houses and caring for animals
Thank you for reading - Please ask me any questions you have!

Hi, I’m Lorna. I’m a friendly, reliable pet sitter and I genuinely love animals. I’ve had dogs for over 25 years and have always grown up around pets, so caring for them has always been a big part of my life. I know how important it is to leave your pet with someone you trust, and I’ll always do my best to make sure they feel safe, happy and well looked after. I’m DBS checked and fully insured too, so you can have extra peace of mind.
I offer dog walking, pop-in visits and boarding for dogs, cats and small pets. Dog walks are usually 30 minutes or 1 hour, depending on your dog and what suits them best. I like to keep the number of dogs I walk at one time low so they get plenty of attention, and I’m happy to do solo walks if that would suit your dog better. Pop-in visits can include feeding, fresh water, litter tray cleaning, letting pets out, giving medication if needed, playtime, cuddles and company. Boarding is very much a home-from-home service, where pets are treated like part of the family and kept to their usual routine as much as possible.
I’m happy to help with regular bookings, occasional cover and holiday care, depending on availability. If there was ever an emergency, I would contact you straight away and/or any other emergency contact. If needed, I would take your pet to your registered vet or the nearest available vet. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing will always come first.
Every pet is different, so I take the time to get to know their routine, personality and needs. Whether your dog needs a walk, your cat needs company and care at home, or your pet needs a safe and cosy place to stay, I’ll look after them as if they were my own.

Hii, I grew up with a lot of pets in my family including ragdolls, british short hair, stray cats, fishes, a snake and also a golden retriever so I can assure that your pet will be taken good care of. I am happy to take your pet on walks or just pet sit. I can speak english, cantonese, mandarin and a bit of french!
I have previously pet sat for some family friends and I regularly walk my neighbours dogs. I am comfortable with being around bigger pets or smaller ones (hopefully non agressive ones, but I do not mind). I absolutely adore animals and I get along with them well.
Unfortunately I will not be able to have them stay with me overnight as where I stay does not allow pets however I am able to come to yours to watch them. It would also be preferred if your pet was vaccincated in order to ensure safety on both ends but I am happy to discuss that. During all my services, I will be in contact with you to ensure your pets safety and also to ensure I am doing my best to keep up to their needs whether it is taking medication or other things!
My schedule currently is pretty flexible but it alters from time since I have uni but feel free to reach out! I am looking forward to meeting you and your wonderful pets :)

As a dog owner myself, I know how important it is to find the right person to fit in with you and your pets needs!
I wouldn’t want to leave my dogs in the hands of someone who wasn’t as passionate about their wellbeing as I am- and this is where I step in!
I am able to offer compassionate and flexible services that will let you rest easy knowing your pet is in the hands of somebody who really cares about who they’re looking after.
I really emphasise the importance of trust, both from a pet owners perspective, but also that of the pets- so that means I’m more than happy to meet up and take any time needed to build up relationships with some dogs who may not be as confident with new people.

I am currently offering:
- Dog Walking
- Overnight Pet Sitting
- Drop in Visits

Dog Walking:
I am available to accommodate your needs morning, noon or night 7 days a week. So if you need a walk outside of the 'normal' times, don't hesitate to ask for what you need! I'm always willing to go the extra mile to make it work for you and your pet!
Available in 30 minute, 60 minute or 90 minute time slots, my dog walking experience offers your dog's daily dose of mental and physical stimulation when you're unable to do so!
Walks currently take place in all sorts of places: let me know if you have a particular local route you would like me to stick to, or if you'd like for me to take your dog somewhere new to explore!

Overnight Sitting:
You can rest easy knowing not only is your pet in good hands while you're away, but your house is too! Pet sitting is the only option that allows your dogs routine to stay as familiar as possible to them, while also offering the security of not having to leave your home unattended for a long period of time!
The sitting experience is fully customisable to your dog, depending on how often they can be left alone, the frequency of their walks and their individual needs throughout the day, so no two overnight stays ever look the same!
I generally aim to leave dogs for a maximum of between 4 and 6 hours throughout the day- so I am able to go to see my other clients for their own services! If this doesn't work for you, let me know and I'm willing to be more flexible!

Drop-In Visits:
Again, each drop in will look different depending on what you need!
There is the option to choose between 30 or 60 minute visits, throughout which, I can let your dog have a toilet break in the garden, play or cuddle with them, offer them food or water, or administer that afternoon dose of medication.
Let me know what you're looking for, and I will do my best to make it happen!

If this sounds like something you’re looking for in your pet carer, please get in touch!

I’m a caring, reliable, and attentive pet sitter with a genuine passion for animal wellbeing. My motivation to be a pet sitter comes from the joy I get from building trust with animals and helping them feel safe, calm, and happy while their owners are away. I understand that leaving a pet can be stressful, so I focus on providing consistent, personalised care that mirrors their usual routine as closely as possible.
I have hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats with a variety of personalities, energy levels, and needs. For example, I’ve looked after energetic dogs who need longer, structured walks and plenty of playtime, as well as more relaxed or older pets who prefer gentle walks and quiet companionship. During walks, I stay alert to my surroundings, keep dogs on secure leads, and adjust pace and distance based on the dog’s comfort and ability.
I also have experience caring for pets who feel anxious or unsettled. In these situations, I take a calm, patient approach, using reassurance, routine, and familiar activities to help them relax. Playtime is always tailored to the pet — whether that’s throwing a ball, interactive games, or calm indoor play.
Safety and hygiene are always a priority for me. I closely supervise pets at all times, follow owner instructions carefully, and only accept fully vaccinated pets to ensure a healthy environment. My goal is to give every pet individual attention and every owner complete peace of mind.

Hi I'm Emma, I'm 25 years old and currently working as a support worker! I live in LS9 with my two rabbits. I have loved animals since I was little and I have had rabbits since I was about 10 years old and love spending time with animals. I currently have 2 rabbits called Maggie and Big that I absolutely adore! Maggie is a mini Rex and Big is a continental giant!
I work weekdays from 9-5 so I'm able to offer drop ins before or after those hours, I can take on bookings for people living around Leeds docks or east end park/Burmantofts as I don't have access to a car so cannot accept bookings too far away. I'm unfortunately not able to offer boarding or overnight care due to my commitment to my own furry companions.
Having grown up with rabbits and sharing my home with them, I understand the unique needs of small animals. In more recent years, I have lived with and offered care for cats, and have developed an understanding of their needs and feel confident in my ability to care for them!
Although I love dogs, I have no experience of caring for them independently so I'm unable to offer dog sitting as you need to leave your loved ones in the hands of someone capable of providing quality care!

Hi. My name is Jess and I am 23. (as of writing this) I have done one year of Animal Care. I'm currently studying Management of Animal Collections with Conservation at Askham Bryan in York for University. I have owned a dog and own a cat. Also walked friends' dogs many times.
I am willing to walk your pet, and take care of them at your house or just drop in for a visit. As someone who walks a lot I know multiple places all of varying lengths I can go to for walks with your pets to make sure they will be receiving the best enrichment possible. I love animals and would love a permanent job with them in the future, preferably the RSPCA. This is to help get experience and to understand the difference between each pet. Please feel free to contact me via text if you are in need of any more information.
My services are:
Dog walking between 1-4hrs:
I can take your dog on a walk in multiple places. All of varying lengths to fit the dogs needs. The places I will be going to will be Harewood House, Gledhow Forest, Roundhay Park and Thruscross Resovoir.
Pet visits for check- ins 1-2 times a day:
Here I will come in to your house and visit your pet. I will stay for about 30-45 mins and feed, play and give them attention.
So to avoid wasting time I live in Harehills and do not own a car. This means you must drop your pet off with me unless you are within a suitable distance to walk. If a car will be used I shall be getting a lift from my grandparents who have joined me in walking people's dogs in the past and continue to do so. They also owned multiple dogs in their lifetime so understand the behaviour well.
