Top cities for house sitting in United Kingdom

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Shadwell home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Shadwell.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Shadwell home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

As a dog owner myself, I know how important it is to find the right person to fit in with you and your pets needs!
I wouldn’t want to leave my dogs in the hands of someone who wasn’t as passionate about their wellbeing as I am- and this is where I step in!
I am able to offer compassionate and flexible services that will let you rest easy knowing your pet is in the hands of somebody who really cares about who they’re looking after.
I really emphasise the importance of trust, both from a pet owners perspective, but also that of the pets- so that means I’m more than happy to meet up and take any time needed to build up relationships with some dogs who may not be as confident with new people.

I am currently offering:
- Dog Walking
- Overnight Pet Sitting
- Drop in Visits

Dog Walking:
I am available to accommodate your needs morning, noon or night 7 days a week. So if you need a walk outside of the 'normal' times, don't hesitate to ask for what you need! I'm always willing to go the extra mile to make it work for you and your pet!
Available in 30 minute, 60 minute or 90 minute time slots, my dog walking experience offers your dog's daily dose of mental and physical stimulation when you're unable to do so!
Walks currently take place in all sorts of places: let me know if you have a particular local route you would like me to stick to, or if you'd like for me to take your dog somewhere new to explore!

Overnight Sitting:
You can rest easy knowing not only is your pet in good hands while you're away, but your house is too! Pet sitting is the only option that allows your dogs routine to stay as familiar as possible to them, while also offering the security of not having to leave your home unattended for a long period of time!
The sitting experience is fully customisable to your dog, depending on how often they can be left alone, the frequency of their walks and their individual needs throughout the day, so no two overnight stays ever look the same!
I generally aim to leave dogs for a maximum of between 4 and 6 hours throughout the day- so I am able to go to see my other clients for their own services! If this doesn't work for you, let me know and I'm willing to be more flexible!

Drop-In Visits:
Again, each drop in will look different depending on what you need!
There is the option to choose between 30 or 60 minute visits, throughout which, I can let your dog have a toilet break in the garden, play or cuddle with them, offer them food or water, or administer that afternoon dose of medication.
Let me know what you're looking for, and I will do my best to make it happen!

If this sounds like something you’re looking for in your pet carer, please get in touch!

I’m a caring, reliable, and attentive pet sitter with a genuine passion for animal wellbeing. My motivation to be a pet sitter comes from the joy I get from building trust with animals and helping them feel safe, calm, and happy while their owners are away. I understand that leaving a pet can be stressful, so I focus on providing consistent, personalised care that mirrors their usual routine as closely as possible.
I have hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats with a variety of personalities, energy levels, and needs. For example, I’ve looked after energetic dogs who need longer, structured walks and plenty of playtime, as well as more relaxed or older pets who prefer gentle walks and quiet companionship. During walks, I stay alert to my surroundings, keep dogs on secure leads, and adjust pace and distance based on the dog’s comfort and ability.
I also have experience caring for pets who feel anxious or unsettled. In these situations, I take a calm, patient approach, using reassurance, routine, and familiar activities to help them relax. Playtime is always tailored to the pet — whether that’s throwing a ball, interactive games, or calm indoor play.
Safety and hygiene are always a priority for me. I closely supervise pets at all times, follow owner instructions carefully, and only accept fully vaccinated pets to ensure a healthy environment. My goal is to give every pet individual attention and every owner complete peace of mind.

Hi! I'm a reliable, caring animal lover with a lifelong passion for pets. I've grown up around animals and have hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, and other small animals. Family, friends, and neighbours have trusted me to feed, walk, play with, and care for their pets while they've been away, ensuring they stay happy, comfortable, and well looked after.I also work as a physiotherapy assistant, where compassion, responsibility, and attention to detail are essential every day. These qualities carry over into the care I provide for every pet I look after.I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and pet sitting. Visits can include feeding, fresh water, playtime, cuddles, cleaning litter trays or cages, administering basic medication if required, and keeping to your pet's normal routine. Walks are tailored to your dog's age, energy level, and individual needs.I understand that leaving your pet with someone else is a big decision, so I'll treat them as if they were my own. I'll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages so you can enjoy peace of mind while you're away.I tailor every walk to your dog's age, breed and energy levels. Walks are typically 30-60 minutes, but I'm happy to follow your usual routine. For home visits, I'll feed your pet, refresh their water, provide playtime, clean litter trays or cages if needed, administer basic medication (following your instructions), and make sure they have plenty of love and attention before I leave. I understand some pets can be nervous or reactive, so I'm always patient, calm and happy to take things at their pace. I'll send regular photo and video updates so you know your pet is happy and settled. I only take on bookings that I can give my full attention to, ensuring every pet receives the care and time they deserve.I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members!

Hi I'm Emma, I'm 25 years old and currently working as a support worker! I live in LS9 with my two rabbits. I have loved animals since I was little and I have had rabbits since I was about 10 years old and love spending time with animals. I currently have 2 rabbits called Maggie and Big that I absolutely adore! Maggie is a mini Rex and Big is a continental giant!
I work weekdays from 9-5 so I'm able to offer drop ins before or after those hours, I can take on bookings for people living around Leeds docks or east end park/Burmantofts as I don't have access to a car so cannot accept bookings too far away. I'm unfortunately not able to offer boarding or overnight care due to my commitment to my own furry companions.
Having grown up with rabbits and sharing my home with them, I understand the unique needs of small animals. In more recent years, I have lived with and offered care for cats, and have developed an understanding of their needs and feel confident in my ability to care for them!
Although I love dogs, I have no experience of caring for them independently so I'm unable to offer dog sitting as you need to leave your loved ones in the hands of someone capable of providing quality care!

Being passionately fond of dogs, I find myself growing up with dogs and have always love being around them and learning to take care of them. Even now, I still love dogs really much tho it's yet a right moment in life to get a pet myself after graduating from uni for just two years, tho I work as a tutor who teaches students aged from 6 to 18 English, and have a flexible schedule which will be a great fit for me to get engaged in pet sitting. Pet sitting came to my mind as the perfect idea as not only can I help other loving owners with giving the needed care for their beloved pets, but I could also be around dogs all the time! Simple as that, I just LOVE dogs! :)
I do not just love them but I also have experience taking care of them with my experience in looking after the pets I closely live and stay with. Even since small, I have gradually been taught how to take dogs for a walk. I also take care of other care routine, like helping them take a shower, feeding them etc. am the most familiar with taking care of small to medium size dogs, like Chihuahua and Cavalier King Charles, with the previous experience I have.

My approach combines reliability and a gentle, nurturing demeanor. I am skilled in feeding, walking, and administering medication, and I take pride in maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for pets. I have experience with [specific types of pets, e.g., dogs, cats, etc.], and I enjoy engaging them in activities that promote their happiness and well-being.
I believe that each pet deserves individualized care, and I am committed to ensuring they feel comfortable and loved while their owners are away. I would love the opportunity to contribute to your pets’ happiness and well-being.
I pride myself on being reliable and attentive. I offer daily updates and photos to pet owners, providing peace of mind while they are away. My goal is to create a safe, stimulating environment where pets can thrive. I enjoy engaging pets in activities that promote their happiness, whether it’s long walks, playtime, or simply cuddling on the couch.
In addition to my hands-on experience, I am also trained in pet first aid and CPR, giving me the confidence to handle any emergencies that may arise. I understand the importance of maintaining a routine that aligns with each pet’s needs and preferences.

Hello, I'm Jade!
I have become lucky enough to have more time on my hands to be able to care for your furbabies due to being a mature student. I do work in the mornings but I am available after lunchtime for the rest of the day and night to give your pets the love and fuss they need whilst you're away - whether it's cuddles, walks or just someone being there.

I am a mother of 3 (2 x Bulldogs and 1 Spaniel) who all have very different personalities and needs. My attention will solely be on your pet though as mine will stay with their dad during me taking care of yours.

Although I have never officially worked with animals, I have grown up with them being a huge part of my life and have lots of experience sitting for friends and family. I know they are so important to us and knowing that they are kept safe, being loved and not ignored will hopefully put your mind at ease. I treat mine like my children and I will provide the same treatment for yours, you will receive updates and photos whenever you like too!

I remember years ago when I was going on holiday, my partner and I were visiting some potential kennels to board ours in. Although the dog boarders seemed lovely - I burst into tears in the car on the way home because I just couldn't do that to our dogs, I felt like they would be so lonely and sad. I just wanted to find someone who I could trust would look after mine and I wouldn't be worried whilst away so I know exactly how some people can be feeling when looking for someone.

But can promise you that your pet would be safe, loved and in good hands with me. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

Hi. My name is Jess and I am 23. (as of writing this) I have done one year of Animal Care. I'm currently studying Management of Animal Collections with Conservation at Askham Bryan in York for University. I have owned a dog and own a cat. Also walked friends' dogs many times.
I am willing to walk your pet, and take care of them at your house or just drop in for a visit. As someone who walks a lot I know multiple places all of varying lengths I can go to for walks with your pets to make sure they will be receiving the best enrichment possible. I love animals and would love a permanent job with them in the future, preferably the RSPCA. This is to help get experience and to understand the difference between each pet. Please feel free to contact me via text if you are in need of any more information.
My services are:
Dog walking between 1-4hrs:
I can take your dog on a walk in multiple places. All of varying lengths to fit the dogs needs. The places I will be going to will be Harewood House, Gledhow Forest, Roundhay Park and Thruscross Resovoir.
Pet visits for check- ins 1-2 times a day:
Here I will come in to your house and visit your pet. I will stay for about 30-45 mins and feed, play and give them attention.
So to avoid wasting time I live in Harehills and do not own a car. This means you must drop your pet off with me unless you are within a suitable distance to walk. If a car will be used I shall be getting a lift from my grandparents who have joined me in walking people's dogs in the past and continue to do so. They also owned multiple dogs in their lifetime so understand the behaviour well.
