About Eleanor

I maintain that there is no stressor or level of upset that being surrounded by cats and dogs can't help! I would be delighted to meet the pets of Bolton and neighbouring towns! I have experience with cats and dogs from a diverse background. We had our first family cat and dog from a licensed breeder, and we then had a following 4 rescue dogs, and 1 rescue cat. Having been around animals with adverse histories has taught me to recognise how our pets are feeling and how best to approach them! I think it’s so important to recognise their needs and have patience in order to allow them to thrive and feel as safe and comfortable as possible. In terms of dog walking I work Tuesday - Friday 08:00-18:00 but would be glad to walk in the evenings after work. I am free all weekend and Mondays. I'm happy to do group walks of max 5. In terms of boarding I would be delighted to have doggy sleepovers Friday and Saturday nights! I can have up to 2. In terms of house sitting, I would be okay to sleep over during weekdays and weekends, including extended durations. However, during the weeks, I would need to leave early for work so there should be further arrangements for your pet covering the daytime. Weekends and Mondays I am available throughout. I don't mind how many dogs reside in homes I will sit in. Ideally, dogs won't be left alone at all, but if absolutely necessary, this would never exceed 1-2 hours. We have a door which separates from the back door so is secure and prevents fleeing, however the back yard is completely secure which an 8ft locked fence all around. The front door is the only other flight risk but this will be safely monitored and pets can be placed in another room if the door is needing to be opened. In terms of home visits, I am flexible. I can sit in with your pets for 1 hour, 2 hours or more, simply ask and we can discuss! I will adapt my routine to suit your pets. Whatever best works at home I will do my best to apply if pets reside with me, of if I reside with them. Most of our rescues came with complex emotional needs. Normal was unable to eat with us present, Pansy could not enter the house again after doing her business in the garden, Snowy tries to hide away by burrowing under blankets as it makes her feel safe. We provided Norma with the time and space she needed in order to start feeling safe enough to eat. This took a few months, but eventually she realised she was safe and she was in an environment where she was consistently going to be nourished and loved and cared for. Norma has been a massive support system for Pansy. Pansy was so incredibly skittish when we first got her, oftentimes refusing to enter the house from the garden. We gave Pansy the space she needed to freely do so, but her observing Norma entering the home comfortably was immensely beneficial in helping her to grow her confidence. Currently, Snowy is still in her settling in period, she often burrows in the divots in the couch and beneath blankets as a bit of a safe sanctuary. We ensure the couch is full of blankets for her to use! We're giving her the space she needs, ensuring her basic care needs are met, I.e feeding, warmth, toileting, exercise, and comfort. She is not yet ready for walks, so we have been hiring safe secure fields for her to run around on which is doing wonders for her wellbeing and confidence. I currently support an elderly neighbour with walking her rescue dog from Siberia to ensure she receives proper exercise and stimulation! We communicate via text regarding when is most convenient. I then walk over to her home and walk Ivy for an hour! We usually walk and run around Smithills estate, being sure to stop and sniff the whenever Ivy wishes to, ensuring extra enrichment! I regularly walk our dog, my parents 2 dogs, and an elderly neighbours dog. We have an additional new rescue bichon and my parents; unfortunately she's not yet ready for walks so I have accompanied my parents to secure fields to allow snowy periods of time where she can freely run around to gain confidence, prepping her for walks! I'm forever bathing my dogs after they decide they're going to smell wonderful by rolling in some kind of faecal/carcass remains! I ensure to feed Sammy at regular times, and include treat times in between! Sometimes administering medications is incorporated into this practice which I support with, ensuring I am patient and persistent and that the medications are administered safely. I've also administered flea treatment if Sammy unfortunately manages to munch on some kind of excrement! Whenever the zoomies hit Sammy, I will run around the house with him until he becomes tired! Unfortunately, Sammy is susceptible, as are all bichons, to over grooming themselves, causing wounds. I have cleaned these wounds and dressed them appropriately. I also use wound drying powder to promote quicker healthier healing. I’m having some trouble convincing my partner to get a cat so I would be extremely pleased to make some local feline friends! We got our first cat when I was 4 years old. We also rescued an additional cat when I was around 13. Our rescue cat was especially timid, while our first cat was very self-assured and confident. I feel Luna and Marble gave me a wonderful, lasting insight into the varied cat personalities. Unfortunately, my sister took the cats with her when she moved out, leaving a cat shaped hole in my heart since! While living with Marble and Luna, I supported with all domains of cat care! Feeding, cleaning, issuing flea treatments where necessary, and most importantly, I became pretty privvy at tactically playing with the string-mouse toy :). In terms of cats, I feel they're mostly independent! When they welcome it, I enjoy playing with them! I enjoy petting them if they're receptive to this. I fed our cats regularly when we had them. I also supported giving medications orally when necessary. To conclude, I would be honoured to care for your furry family as though they were my own! I look forward to meeting the pets of Bolton and surrounding areas!
