About Katherine
Hi, I'm Katherine!
A 3rd year History student at the University of Bristol, living near the Harbourside, so I'm within easy walking distance of loads of great pet-friendly spots, including Brandon Hill and the Downs, which I know really well after three years living in the city.
I'm free most days from 5th September, with around 9 hours of contact time a week once term starts on 21st September (my exact availability will firm up once I get my timetable, I'm happy to confirm specifics once I have it). Generally, I can be flexible across mornings, afternoons, and evenings, just get in touch and we can work out what suits you.
About my experience
I grew up around animals and currently have a cat and a dog of my own, so I'm equally comfortable with either. I've also volunteered at a local farm park, so I'm confident handling smaller pets like rabbits and guinea pigs too. What motivates me most is just genuinely loving animal company. I always ask questions upfront so I understand your pet's individual routine and quirks, and I treat every pet like my own.
About my services
Home visits: I typically stay for a couple of hours during the day, and I'm happy to keep your pet company, feed them, play, cuddle, do light grooming and brushing, and run through tricks or games. I also work at a café where plant care is part of my job, so watering your plants while I'm there is no problem at all, just let me know what else you'd like included (e.g. bringing in post).
Dog walking: My standard walk is around 30 minutes, usually around Brandon Hill or the Downs, both safe, green spaces I know really well. I'll keep your dog on the lead as standard unless we agree otherwise, and I'm always happy to follow whatever makes you most comfortable. But on weekends i am very happy to do longer walks 2+ hours all around green spaces.
House sitting/overnight stays: I'm available for overnight stays and happy to fit around your routine. As a student I may do some quiet uni work while I'm there, but your pet will always be my priority. I'll follow your usual home security habits (locking up, keeping the same routine you would) and I'm happy to talk through any specific measures you'd like me to take beforehand.
Medication: I haven't administered medication before, but I'm a fast learner and happy to discuss this with you directly so we can make sure I'm confident and comfortable with your pet's needs before any booking. Also please let me know your vet's details in advance. I'll contact both them and you as soon as possible in the event of an emergency. Out of hours, my usual course of action is to head straight to the nearest emergency vet, unless we've agreed on another plan beforehand.
I'm reliable, active (I go to the gym and kickbox at uni, so I've got plenty of energy for fetch or a run around!), and always happy to arrange either one-off care or a regular routine.
I volunteer with a homeless chairty in bristol so have been DBS checked :)
Get in touch, I'd love to meet your pet!
