Hi, I’m Daisy — a UCL student who has been looking after cats for the past three years, and who happens to share her home with one elderly one of her own.

The cat sitting started casually, friends and neighbours asking for cover while they were away, but it became something I kept coming back to. Over three years you pick things up — how to spot when an animal is off, how to earn the trust of a cat who wants nothing to do with you at first, how to stick to a routine without being rigid about it. Every cat is different, and I’ve learned to adjust rather than assume.

Living with my own cat, who’s older and needs more careful attention these days, has added another layer to that. Senior pets require a quieter kind of care — noticing small changes, keeping things consistent, not rushing them. It’s taught me to be more observant across the board.

I’m a student, so I understand what it means to have a lot on and still need things covered properly. I don’t take on more than I can manage, I keep owners updated, and I treat every home I’m trusted with the same way I’d want mine treated.
