About Lucy
Hiya! My name is Lucy Moss and I'm 18 years old. Animals have always owned a huge place in my heart, and i care for them deeply. I have experience with a range of dogs, including deaf dogs, as well as reactive dogs - including rescues. I have my own dog! His name is bear, and he is an 8 year old westie cross poodle! Due to my dog being part westie, he unfortunately has skin problems. This has allowed me to grow an understanding of how to care for a dog's needs when it comes to sensitive skin, and other minor skin conditions. Although i dont have much professional experience, i have been around dogs my entire life. As previously mentioned, i have experience with reactive dogs, and rescues, which are within my family. I have learnt a great deal about a dog's body language, routines, and special needs through the process of them going from a frightened, shadowed dog, to a happy, bold and loving dog!
With my services, i offer :
- Overnight stays : often a 24 hour stay.
- Home visits, either once or twice a day : often an hour each visit.
- Dog walking : often 30 mins per walk.
Throughout any of my services, i will provide updates through photos, videos and messages so the owner can see how their fury friend is doing!
I must state, with my services as a whole i prefer small - medium dogs. This is because i don't have much experience with larger dogs, and would be unsure how to handle them and their needs. Other than that, i accept any dog, any breed, any age!
For overnight stays and home visits, i would need a clear list of instructions on how and when to feed them, including their preferred food and their balancing of treats, where they sleep and where they're most comfortable, as well as being made aware of any conditions the dog may have. This includes any medication the dog needs to have - as well as what times to give them their medication and how to give it them. Following this, i would also need to know if the dog were to be bathed, their behaviour around being bathed, and to be made aware of any skin conditions the dog may have that may cause a reaction when being bathed. Finally, i would need to be informed on where the dog prefers to go to the toilet, as i understand some dogs may have weaker bladders and have toilet pads around the house, or that some owners prefer their dogs to go for a quick walk instead of using the back garden for the toilet. I would also would need to be made aware of the dog's vets incase of an emergency. If an emergency were to take place, i would perform first aide while immediately contact the vets, followed with immediately contacting the owner with a clear understanding of the situation, and consistent updates with their dog's health and condition.
During overnight dog sitting, my routine will vary depending on what time i'm due to arrive, and what time in due to leave the following day, as well as the instructions i am given by the owner. However, my routine will consist of :
- Feeding the dog as the given times.
- Providing a morning and evening walk : 15-30 minutes
- Playing with the dog until they're content!
- Follow their night time routine
- Ensure the house stays clean and tidy
- Ensuring the house stays secure at all times : ensuring all the doors and windows are locked during the night, as well as before i leave
If you have a reactive dog and would like me to offer a service, i would need to have a few visits with them before the service is offered, as i understand the process of them gaining trust with me, and creating a relationship with them first would be my first priority. With taking a reactive dog on a walk, their safety is my main priority. I would take safety measures depending on the dogs personally. For example, i would ensure that the dog stays on their leash for the entirety of the walk, stay a clear distance from other dogs walking in the area, and state to other walkers near me that the dog is reactive, and would kindly like to not be greeted by other dogs.
My availability is very flexible, as i'm available any time Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - Sunday. If my availability was to change, i would update it through the app to ensure that i am still able to offer a good service 🙂.
