About Angela
Hi, I'm Angela, a lifetime-long cat and dog lover. I offer pet-sitting, staying with your animal(s) in YOUR home, not mine, in West Sussex and the East Midlands.
- About me: I grew up in a household with 3 cats and a border collie, and in my adulthood I've had 4 dogs and 2 cats of my own, all now sadly gone. I've sat for many friends' and family's pets over the years and absolutely love looking after and spending time with animals. I don't want a full-time pet of my own at this point of my life, but pet-sitting fits my lifestyle really well. I'm in my 50s now and I'm partially disabled (I walk slowly with a stick), but rest assured: I can manage a flight of stairs, do short walks, and bend to pick up the dog poop!
- What I offer: I'm available to stay at your home to look after your cats, or your small to medium sized dogs which don't require long walks or a huge amount of exercise. I'm also happy to pet-sit for elderly dogs of any size - and I prefer a maximum of 3 animals at a time. I'm used to giving medications including injections, and have a level 3 certificate in animal healthcare. I'm particularly good with shy or nervous cats and dogs needing a calm gentle reassuring person who can give them the space they need to feel comfortable and safe, as well as cuddles if they want them. I cannot pet-sit for very energetic or aggressive dogs.
- Setting up the pet-sit will start with us chatting to discuss the animals and dates, confirm the location, and arrange a home visit where I will come to meet both you and your pets - and I'll ask lots of questions about their feeding, walking and bedtime routines, play, likes and dislikes, treats, poop and pee requirements, plus contact details for you while you are away and for your local vet in case of any emergencies. This home visit is included within my pet-sitting fee.(If it isn't possible to do the home visit in advance, I'll come a day or two before the pet-sit to go through these details with you.) Please understand that I won't do a pet-sit if a home visit hasn't already taken place beforehand - both you and I need to feel safe and secure about me coming to stay in your home with your pet(s) while you are away.
- During the pet-sit: I will follow all your instructions on taking care of your pet(s). I will contact you daily with updates, photos or videos and to check with you if I have any extra questions. If there is an emergency - with your pet or your home - I will act quickly to assess the situation and determine if it's something I can deal with or whether outside help is required. This will include giving first aid and getting your pet to a vet if necessary - and I will keep you updated throughout. I will bring my own food and drinks for the duration - I'm a non-smoker, don't drink alcohol, and I'll clean up after myself 😊. I don't need an extensive kitchen, I'll be happy if you just have a microwave and an air fryer, plus some fridge space! I also won't be inviting friends over to your home - I'll bring my laptop so I'll want to connect into your WiFi to do some online research, and I'll probably sing to your pet as well (I'm a writer and a singer).
- Where and when: I'm available around Brighton / Worthing / Chichester and also Derby / Nottingham / Leicester, as I have family and friends in both areas. I need at least 2 weeks' notice in advance for a pet-sit.
