I am a 29 years old Applied Social Studies graduate, with experience in childcare as well as other types of care. I have been petsitting for friends and family for many years and have been petsitting professionally since 2019. I have recently decided to pursue dogsitting and dogwalking as my full time profession due to a rise in the number of dogs i have taken on as regulars. My work experience in different areas of care has required me to be flexible as I have worked different hours with different types of services. This means that I have acquired a lot of skills in being patient, compassionate, a good mediator, understanding and a good listener which are skills also useful in working with pets. As I have doggies I care for regularly I am probably not a good option if you dog isn’t good with others.
I can offer regular dogsitting for people going back to work if you can manage drop off, and I have a few dogs I provide lunchtime walks for regularly including a couple frenchies, a lab and a collie. If you live in the finnieston/kelvingrove area then I may also be able to walk your dog on a regular or semi-regular basis. As i have been dogsitting for some time i also have a few dogs who regularly stay with me including a couple frenchies, a pug, a chihuahua, a collie and a corgi. I enjoy watching new doggy friendships grow so I am well suited if you have a very friendly dog or puppy that loves to play as well as snuggle.
I live next to Kelvingrove park so the park is my back garden! I also like walks down to the river on nice days and sitting in shaded areas when it's very hot. Please let me know your dog's schedule, how good their recall is, how they are off lead and if you would prefer me to go out at quieter times.
I am good at communicating with owners and sharing photos to let them see how their pup is doing. I also have a dogsitting page you can follow for updates of your own dog and other dogs which I can share with you.
Please keep in mind although I live in quite a large spacious flat it is 2 floors up, so if your dog is not confident on stairs then I am most likely not the best fit for you, however if they are small/medium I have no problem carrying them up and down the stairs. Also I have a male flatmate so I may not be well suited for you if your dog is very nervous of men.
Another great day with Sophie! It’s lovley to have Pía hanging out with different dog vibes and know that they’re being wonderfully mediated! :)
Sophie looked after Stitch really well and sent some pictures of him having fun in the park which was of great comfort.
I am creative so I am quite good at coming up with new activities and games to play and I am good at problem solving.
Additionally my work in care has helped me build many relevent skills in being caring and compassionate as well as a strong leader.
