About Violette
About me...
Hi! I'm Violette and I have lived with dogs since i was four years old; now that i've moved away from home i miss their company and loving nature dearly! My family have had a succession of boxers, and i'm therefore more comfortable around large and mid-size dogs (although i'd be happy to gain experience with smaller dogs as well). I was an active participant in my dogs' lives, walking them, grooming them, playing with them, making sure they were fed and took any medicine they might need. My mother in particular expertly trained our dogs and often took me along with her, or left the dogs in my care.
I have experience with puppies, growing dogs, adults and seniors. I have patience and discipline with all dogs, but particularly rescue dogs or dogs with behavioural difficulties. Having had rescue dogs myself, i understand that their journey to a normal life can be long and that their reactions can sometimes be unexpected, but i never loose faith that they have a good soul! Examples that i have encountered of behavioural problems or other particularities requiring additional attention include a rescue boxer with agression towards other dogs, a rescue boxer with trauma around men, and a deaf boxer. I am also confident in keeping track and administering medicine.
More importantly, i understand the importance of adapting to a dog's particular routine rather than forcing it to adapt to mine. I prefer getting guidance as to your dog's normal rythm (usual time and quantities for feeding, walks, personal space, likes and dislikes, etc) to ensure the transition from your hands to mine goes as smoothly as possible. Similarly, i can adpat to your preferred form of behaviour reinforcement (treats, whistle, etc).
Finally, i am a big cuddler, and if your dog is comfortable with me i will happily spend hours giving them scritchy-scratches ! I also love playing with pups, whether it be chasing a ball, tug-o-war, puzzle solving, gentle (or not so gentle) wrestling, hide and seek, or lighter activities.
I'm a master's student, studying at UCL and living around Camden town. As such, i'm in classes tuesday, wednesday and thrusday morning but pretty much free the rest of the time.
