About Steph
Hello! I’m a trustworthy, caring, and responsible pet lover with over 10 years of experience as a cat owner, giving me a strong understanding of feline care, behaviour, and routines. As a teacher, I am patient, dependable, calm, and highly organised—qualities that naturally extend into the care I provide for pets.
Alongside caring for cats, I regularly look after my friend’s dog, including overnight stays, and have experience with daily walks, feeding, playtime, companionship, and maintaining routines. I understand that every dog and cat has their own personality and needs. Some pets are energetic and playful, while others may feel nervous, shy, or unsettled when their owners are away. I respond calmly to different behaviours, using patience, reassurance, consistency, and positive reinforcement to help pets feel safe and secure.
Dog walks are always tailored to each dog's age, breed, energy level, and your preferences. I'm happy to provide shorter 20–30 minute walks for puppies, senior dogs, or those with lower exercise needs, as well as longer 45–60 minute walks for active dogs who enjoy exploring. During walks, I prioritise safety by keeping dogs on their usual lead unless you've confirmed they have reliable recall and are permitted off lead. I always ensure they have access to water afterwards and plenty of time to rest.
I am experienced in administering medication when needed and understand the importance of sticking closely to your pet's usual routine to keep them happy and comfortable. I also pay close attention to changes in behaviour, appetite, or wellbeing and will let you know immediately if I notice anything unusual.
Your pet's safety is my highest priority. Before every booking, I like to learn about your pet's routine, medical needs, favourite activities, and any triggers or anxieties they may have. In the unlikely event of an emergency, I will contact you straight away, follow any instructions you've provided, and, if necessary, seek prompt veterinary care to ensure your pet receives the attention they need as quickly as possible.
I know how important regular updates are when you're away, so I'm happy to send photos, videos, and messages after walks or visits to let you know how your pet is doing.
I treat every home with respect, leaving it clean and secure, and I'm happy to carry out small additional tasks such as refreshing water bowls, bringing in post, watering plants, or adjusting curtains and lights while you're away.
I know how much pets mean to their families, and I will always care for them as if they were my own, ensuring they feel loved, relaxed, safe, and well cared for until you return home.
