About Amy
Hello, I'm Amy! I am 24 years old and have just completed a five-year Veterinary Medicine degree at university. I will be graduating in July!
I have always adored animals, and decided I wanted to become a vet at the age of six. For my veterinary application to stand out, I gained over 300 hours of animal handling experience involving: kennel/cattery work, volunteering at urban farms + horse-riding schools, lambing over Easter etc. On top of this, I did 38 weeks of animal placements in various settings during my time at vet school. From looking after a herd of cheeky alpacas, to bringing a gorgeous Hermann's tortoise with fly-strike back to life - I have learnt so much about the range of animals that exist, and truly understand the necessity of personalised and tailored care. Every animal is unique and deserves to be treated as such. I have also had lots of hands-on experience with cats and dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments through this.
I am currently on my summer break, which means I have plenty of time and flexibility to spend caring for your pet(s). My priority is always to ensure that your pet(s) feels valued, happy, safe and comfortable. I offer home visits and home sitting.
I am committed to following all routines carefully e.g. feeding/treatment schedules, play time, outside time, litter changing, any specific behavioural requirements etc. I am also confident administering veterinary-prescribed medications via a range of routes (including injections), and have experience monitoring cats and dogs who have just had surgery. We can have a chat about the specific needs of your pet(s) when you get in touch, and run through these as many times as you'd like ☺️
I have two cats myself, and I love them both to pieces! My older moggie turned 20 years old earlier this year. Despite being deemed 'geriatric' in the vet world, she's still just as sassy + spritely as ever! On the other hand, my younger moggie (although a gentle giant + an absolute sweetheart), has always been a very nervous boy... I appreciate that no two pets are the same, and that you can never judge a book by its cover - especially if the book is fluffy & occasionally meows/woofs... I look forward to meeting more pet personalities this summer!
Please do reach out, I would love to help.
