Hi, I'm Andy. I'm an artist, sculptor and van-lifer. I'm a practising Buddhist (so taking special care of your pets and house is very good karma in my book :-). I’ve always been around animals, to me they are always family, and feel they add a particular joy and bliss to everything, and, for me as a Buddhist, they are the best teachers of being in the moment. 
I’ve cared for and loved animals for over 30 years, including many dogs, cats, birds, chickens, hamsters and the odd goat and horse. I’ve also volunteered for animals charities over the years. I’ve experienced most situations and particular emotional and/or medical needs when it comes to animals, especially caring for older animals. 
The reason I became a pet-sitter officially was so I could be with animals – as for me, travelling in a camper wasn’t an ideal place for a pet). So for the past five years as a sitter, I cared for pets in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, and across the UK. I am experienced, caring and compassionate. I love going on nature walks, being creative, reading, and enjoying the simple pleasures in life, mainly warm scones. I'm a non-smoker and drinker, and a lover of routine.
It’s very important to offer a calm and consistent environment for a pet. If the pet feels safe, happy, and cared for, you can build trust. It’s also very important to build trust with an owner, for peace of mind knowing that their loved pet is well looked after. I make sure any space is pet-proof and comfortable and remain consistent in established feeding and activity routine. I maintain constant supervision, especially if there are multiple pets. I have been working as a vet receptionist since 2023 and it is the most rewarding job I have had. Daily contact with pets makes work feel enjoyable and I want to spend time looking after pets outside of my work hours too. I became a professional pet sitter with Very Important Pets around the same time I started my job at the vets and have been doing cat feeding visits, live-in cat and dog sits with many repeat clients. I've been extremely fortunate to grow up and spend a lot of time with dogs of all varying breeds (GSD, Spaniels, Terriers, Cockapoo's and Labradors). More recently I've been walking and sitting for family and friends dogs which I absolutely love doing. This includes looking after dogs from pups to senior dogs, as well as differing temperaments.&nbsp;
Alongside this I've spent a lot of time training my own dog Freddie, a working Spaniel, including looking to begin scentwork and gundog training. I spend spare time researching into different breeds to see how they tick, and I firmly believe there is nothing better than seeing a dog do what it was bred for! I've worked alongside a trainer with Freddie but also with training a friends dog so if there is any bits of training you'd like continued, I am open to discussing that with you!&nbsp;
I am currently in the process of moving into dog walking/dog boarding full time, and so looking for some regular clients that I can help with their dogs going forwards. I currently have a lot of availability which can also be discussed further as to what suits you best for both walks and drop ins particularly in hot weather. For dog boarding, I can only accept 1 dog at a time. There will be supervised free roam of the garden allowed as well as downstairs in the home. Freddie is crate trained so should your dog require a bit of alone time, I can put Freddie away for a couple of hours. I can walk your dog solo or alongside Freddie.&nbsp;It is preferable if your dog is also crate trained, however if your dog stays in it's bed through the night that is fine. There is no access upstairs.
I am based in Old Coulsdon which gives me great access to Farthing Downs, but also over towards the Kenley aerodrome area which also provides some lovely walks. At the moment I prefer to walk dogs solo so that I can give them my full attention to build a bond with them, and I also know of some quieter areas to walk if your dog prefers less interaction. If you prefer your dog to be walked on lead then I can provide a 5m or 10m lead too. At the moment I don't have access to a car so I'm a bit more limited to local areas (Coulsdon, Purley, Caterham) but I can easily use public transport to get a bit further out if needs be.

I was brought up with a multitude of pets running around and see them as an integral part of the family. Their personalities differ, but they all need looking after - especially when the people they love are not at home. That's what I offer - someone they can trust to keep them safe, fed and watered until their family comes home to give them the duffles they're after.
If your companion needs medication ,I can help out (not injectable), and can also bring in your mail or even water your plants – as long as I've been briefed I will do my upmost to leave you worry-free. I don't offer grooming or training, but do offer you and your pets the trust you need until you return home to them.
Where and how long I would take your dog for a walk is really dependant on the age and type of your loved one, plus whereabouts you live in regards to available open spaces. I am always happy to discuss options prior to any posible booking.

I’ve always loved animals, and been fond of any family or friends pets I had met. At any party or gathering, you will always see me in the corner with a pet instead of mingling with people! I became my own pet owner over 2 years ago with my baby kitten Whiskey who turns 3 this September. He has quickly become my world, and I pride myself on being the best owner I can to him. More recently, in December my Partner and I adopted a cat called Cleo. She had been rehomed three times (includes coming to us) so had a nervous/anxious personality.
