I'm a cat keeper who grew up with dogs, so very much someone from both worlds! I've spent a lot of time working with anxious animals so am happy to take on your more worried pet too. I believe that animals tell us a lot about who they are and what they need if we listen and are perceptive. I was an academic but am now a fiction author so my time is very flexible. I've been a user of Pawshake for many years now, and I'd like to give back to the community by offering up services of my own. I'm also keen to get out the house a bit more, and meet some more animal friends!

For dogs: I've grown up around and helped train lots of intelligent and tough-to-handle puppies (and not-puppies!). I understand how important it is to have firm but gentle consistent training and will use your preferred instructions when caring for your dog. I have a lot of experience with Border Collies who can be a lot and I know it can feel daunting to ask someone to walk your dog, but rest assured they'll be in good hands! I have experience with anxious dogs too, so just let me know their quirk of choice whether that's joggers, cyclists, or just seeing a really big fellow dog, and let me know if there's a way you like to calm them or a favoured treat! All dogs of any size are very welcome, and our walks will be in Queens Park or down in Linn Park. 

For cats: I've had cats of my own for the last 15 years, all rescue and indoors, and my current cat Lily is a loving but troubled long-hair cat with anxiety, hairballs, claws that she doesn't realised are on her hands, and odd food preferences. She was very antisocial when she first came to me, but through quiet patience and just talking to her, we have become inseparable. I would love the opportunity to spend time with your cat, whether that's sitting with them quietly or playing with their least-frightening toy. For all home visits, I can feed your pet, clean out the litter tray if desired, administer medicine if shown in advance, and I will also spend at least half an hour keeping your cat company.
