Canine care professional based in Bath and surrounding areas. Recently trained in dog first aid with over 10 years experience in animal care, including rescue dogs and cats. I work independently and am employed on a freelance basis at Pawsitively Happy Dogs as a dog walker and provider of doggie daycare, home visits and home boarding.
I can visit your pet(s) up to 3 times per day and my visit will include feeding according to their regular schedule, ensuring that they are let outside to relieve themselves and that they have access to water and any bedding or toys etc. they desire. Should your pet require any oral or topical medications, I can apply those as well. Additionally, I will ensure their area is kept clean...i.e. I don't mind cleaning up a few puddles or poo that may occur in your absence!
I currently have limited boarding availability for the 7th - 21st August period. Dogs MUST be friendly with other animals, including cats
** CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR STAYS IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER **
I can come to your home anytime, whether it be morning, afternoon or evening and stay for any length of time. Just as with home visits, I will ensure your pets are fed, watered, relieved, socialised with and provided any medications as needed. Depending on the time and length of my stay, I will come prepared with food and toiletries for myself. I will do my best to retain the familiarity of your pets' surroundings so that they feel safe, calm and comfortable! In order for me to do this please let me know their personalities and habits i.e. Is there a special pillow or blanket they love to curl up on? Do they go crazy for a particular toy? Is there a room in the house they're prone to messing in and I should keep them away from?
Important note: I am happy to walk/care for dogs of any age and most sizes, but I will need to meet all dogs ahead of time to determine whether I can safely walk them.
I am a gentle-natured yet bubbly, active 23 year old. I've given my profile the catchy name of the “Dr Dolittle of Somerset" because my pets never seem to leave my side -- if it wasn't for locks on the doors they'd follow me into the bathroom! I graduated from Cardiff Uni with a degree in Neuroscience but will be starting my Veterinary Science degree at Bristol this year! Having worked for 2 years as a dementia support worker and led 1-to-1 student mental health sessions at university, I can safely say my core skill is empathy, something that is necessary in properly caring for animals of any species and breed. I will dilligently provide care that is tailored to your pet's needs. Meeting a new person can be both exciting and stressful for animals, especially when their owner is away, so rest assured that I will be receptive to your pet's behaviour and adjust my own accordingly. For example, my dog enjoys a good walk, a good fuss, followed by a doze on my lap; of course there's my cat, who lavishes being the centre of attention as much as she enjoys having her own quiet space too. I will take care of your pets as if they were my own!
I am a professional dogwalker at Pawsitively Happy Dogs, based in Bath. I have 11 years experience in caring for my own rescue dog, Poppy. I have grown up with cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, most recently my family adopted a new puppy, Jim. He is the 3rd addition to our furry family, including Poppy and Thelma, our cat. With dogs and cats both young and old in the house, I’m used to looking out for ailments. I have plenty of experience in administering medications and cleaning wounds.
I am trained in Dog First Aid, most recently completing a course in July 2022 (with Allwinds Dog First Aid) and so I am up to date with the current first aid techniques recommended by veterinary professionals.
I have been volunteering at dog/cat rescue centres for over 5 years and so am very understanding of animals with varying temperaments as well as appropriate feeding and cleaning techniques.
I have 2 years' experience in horse care, volunteering regularly at the Equine Therapy Center in Tetbury and Dean Farm Trust in Chepstow - at the latter I also care for other equines, poultry, cows, goats, rabbits and sheep. I often care for my neighbour's chickens which I adore doing because it lets me get creative with my enrichment ideas!
Laura was great with my pup, I felt Laura was trustworthy and caring towards our pet.
