About me 🐾
Hi, I’m Phoebe. I’ve grown up around animals and have always enjoyed looking after them. I’ve just achieved A*A*A*A* in my A-Levels so I'll be studying Law at university this year, so at the moment I have a fairly flexible schedule. Outside of looking after animals, I enjoy reading, going to concerts and travelling, and I regularly travel by train to Cornwall to see my blind Jack Russell, who moved there during Covid. I’m not really a drinker or smoker, so I tend to spend a lot of my time with my pets, family and friends instead.
I currently have two Maine Coon cats, a Dachshund, a Chihuahua and a blind Jack Russell. We’ve also always had smaller pets such as guinea pigs, hamsters and fish, so I’m comfortable with animals of different sizes and needs.
Dog experience 🐶
I’ve looked after and walked dogs of quite a few different sizes and personalities, including Jack Russells, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, Golden Retrievers, Labradoodles and Cockapoos. I currently regularly walk three Cockapoos — two together and one separately — and I’m happy to walk two dogs from the same household together.
I used to walk a Jack Russell every day and spent time teaching her tricks such as spinning, lying down, jumping through a hoop, giving her paw and high fives. I also have experience with dogs who need a little more patience or understanding, as my own Jack Russell is blind and reactive. Nervous or reactive dogs aren’t a problem, although I’d appreciate knowing beforehand so I can make sure I approach them in the right way.
I’ve also done dog sitting in the past, including staying overnight at someone’s home with two Cockapoos. I’ve done home visits for dogs too, including spending a few hours with them while their owners were away.
Cat experience 🐱
I’ve always been around cats. We previously had an outdoor cat who developed seizures as he got older, and I would stay with him when he had one to make sure he was safe and gave him tablets when needed.
We now have two indoor Maine Coon cats who we’ve had since they were kittens. They have quite different personalities — one is very friendly and playful, while the other is more relaxed and, when he was younger, could easily over-exert himself because his ribcage was slightly misshapen. I’m therefore used to paying attention to individual personalities and knowing when an animal needs attention and when they need some space.
I also recently looked after another cat for a week, visiting twice a day. He needed to be let out at night and back in during the morning, as well as being fed and having fresh water. When he didn’t come home one morning, I returned later to check on him and made sure he was safely back before leaving. I've also looked after this cat before, so this was a repeat service, which I love as it lets me get to know them!
I’m happy with feeding, refreshing water, cleaning litter trays, grooming, playing and giving straightforward medication where an owner has provided clear instructions.
Other pets 🐹🐰🐟
I’m also happy to care for rabbits, guinea pigs, fish and hamsters. I’ve grown up with guinea pigs, hamsters and fish, so I’m familiar with their everyday care and routines. I’m happy to follow whatever routine you normally have for your pet rather than changing things unnecessarily while you’re away.
What I offer
I offer 30-minute dog walks and home visits, with the option of booking multiple visits in a day. Home visits are generally around 30 minutes, although I’m happy to stay a little longer if a pet is nervous or needs some extra time to settle.
During home visits I can feed your pets, refresh food and water, give straightforward tablets or medication, clean litter trays, provide some playtime and company, and generally make sure they’re comfortable and everything is as it should be. I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine and follow any instructions you leave.
Availability & transport 🚗
I’m currently very flexible. I do some work for a small business on certain days, usually around 10am–3pm, but this is flexible, and I also have some regular dog walking which can be arranged around other bookings. I’m generally available at weekends as well and can usually fit multiple walks or visits into a day.
I have my own car, so I can travel to your home reliably. I generally take bookings within around 5 miles of Stone to keep travel costs reasonable. I’m also happy to travel a little further where possible. I regularly take two of the Cockapoos I walk out in my car, including to places such as Downs Banks, so they can have a change of scenery rather than always walking locally.
Looking after your home 🏠
I’ve stayed overnight in someone else’s home while pet sitting before, so I’m comfortable with this as previous experience. When visiting or staying at someone’s home, I’ll treat it respectfully and follow any instructions you leave.
I’m happy to bring in post, put bins out, water plants, keep things tidy and make sure the house is left as I found it. I understand that having someone care for your pets also means trusting them in your home, so I’ll be respectful of your space and make sure your pets’ normal routines are kept as consistently as possible.
