I’m an experienced dog owner and carer, and my own German Shepherd, Toby, is a certified Pets As Therapy dog. Toby's calm, gentle nature reflects the patient, responsible, and reassuring approach that I bring to animal care. I’m very comfortable following detailed instructions, maintaining established routines, and adapting to each pet’s individual personality, whether that’s an energetic dog who enjoys long walks and play, or a more relaxed or nervous pet who benefits from a quieter, gentler approach.

During house sits, I prioritise consistency and reassurance, keeping to familiar feeding, walking, and sleeping routines so pets feel secure in their own home. I take time to understand each animal’s preferences, behaviours, and any specific needs, including medication, dietary requirements, or sensitivities. I also ensure regular communication with owners, providing updates and photos for peace of mind.

A typical day is tailored to each pet's normal routine. Dogs can expect morning and afternoon walks, with the length and pace adjusted to their age, health, and energy levels. Between walks, there is plenty of companionship, playtime, garden breaks, and quiet time for rest. For dogs that enjoy games, I am happy to play ball, use favourite toys, or simply provide company and affection. When appropriate and with the owner's agreement, Toby may accompany us on walks, as he is very friendly with other dogs and enjoys their company. Pets are never left alone for long periods, and owners can expect regular updates and photos throughout the sit.

Alongside pet care, I have many years of experience managing rental and holiday properties, including overseeing maintenance, security, and day-to-day responsibilities. I treat every home with great care and respect, keeping it clean, secure, and well looked after.

House sitting suits my lifestyle well. I work largely from home as a children's author, which allows me to be present throughout the day and give pets consistent companionship. I enjoy quiet, settled environments, long walks, and time in nature, making dog care especially rewarding.

Having cared for both single- and multiple-pet households, I understand the importance of ensuring each pet receives individual attention while maintaining harmony within the home. Care is always adapted to the needs of the animals and the preferences of their owners.

I take trust very seriously. I’m DBS checked through my work with schools and can also provide a letter-headed solicitor’s reference from a Principal who has known me professionally since 2009. My aim is always to ensure pets are happy and relaxed, and that owners feel completely confident while they’re away.
